Rock Band 4

Platform(s): PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Genre: Rhythm game
Release Date: October 6, 2015
Developer: Harmonix
Publisher: Harmonix

Synopsis

Rock Band 4 offers backward compatibility with content and hardware from previous versions of Rock Band within the same console family; wireless guitar and drum controllers from PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Rock Band can be used on the PS4 and Xbox One versions (with PS4 using an existing USB dongle, and Xbox One requiring a newly produced USB dongle), and DLC songs purchased on prior installments on PS3 and Xbox 360 can be re-downloaded at no extra charge on PS4 and Xbox One in a ported form that supports the game's features. Harmonix plans to release free and paid DLC that will add new features and content to the game over time, in lieu of releasing yearly installments; this includes the addition of support for synchronous online play which is expected to be added by January 25, 2017.

Gameplay

Similar to the other Rock Bands, this game is based on playing an instrument to the rhythm of a song. There are 4 instruments you can play to the song you have selected, you can play a guitar, base, drum, or sing in a microphone. You'll be required to hit the coordinated notes on the screen with the colored keys on your instrument to get score. For singing you need to sing the right words with the exact tone to achieve a higher multiplier and more score towards your band. There is also a feature allowing you to double your multiplier, all you got to do is hit all the white notes that appear randomly in a song and if you get the power-up bar have way you can activate your multiplier to get more score. You'll also notice the screen will light of with amazing designs. There is also a career mode allowing you to take a road trip playing songs and trying to get the most score. The better you do in a song the more fans and money you'll get towards your character. In the career mode you are allowed to customize each character in the band to fit your personality the most. You will also encounter gigs that can benefit you in getting more fans in a counter to getting more money, but there is also some you may not want to get. A new feature brought into Rock Band 4 is the freestyle, this is another feature taking over the guitar solo in a song, you can pick either one but the freestyle lets you strum any key making the solo sound better. Harmonix Also brought in another gamemode called "Brutal Mode" that makes it even harder to get note streaks. You'll have to remember each note for a split second because each note goes through a wall where you cannot see it.

Graphics

Hands down the best graphics out of all the Rock Bands. Picking a song by its genre will have a concert towards that song for example if you pick a country song the concert will be in a country bar. The customization in this game is incredible, You have a huge variety of guitars, drums, clothing, and microphones you can go through in career mode enhancing the visual of your gameplay. The texture in this game is smooth and the shadows are amazing. Rather than the other Rock Bands, when strumming a note or smashing a drum a big spark comes out letting you know you hit it. Overall great graphics.

Controls

Controls are the exact same as the other Rock Bands, you have 2 guitars for base and the guitar and a drum set for the drumming. Each guitar has 5 colors that are on 5 keys you have to press. You have Green, Red, Yellow, Blue, and Orange. On each guitar you have a whammy bar allowing you to change the sound for the notes you have to hold. All you need to do is shake the bar up and down giving you more points and a different noise. On drums you have the 4 colors green, red, blue, and yellow for each drum and then the foot peddle as orange. Drums are the hardest instrument to play in rock band since you need coordination and need to be really on beat. There is also "Pro Drums" where you can buy the drum symbols and attaching them to your drums making it harder and making the song sound better. There are 4 difficulties making you hit each key faster and the higher the difficulty, you will have to hit more than one key at a time. For the microphone all you need is the microphone and a control. (also a good voice)

Never been a fan of this game, to be honest, didn't really like the fact how expensive it was as you need the accessories to play the game which I think should have been included.

I haven't gotten around to checking this one out, even though it does seem like a great game even the 4th time around. I'm even more intrigued cause the graphics seem great
