Title: Stickbold! Dodgeball Adventure
Developer: Game Swing
Publisher: Reign Bros
Release Date: April 1, 2016
Genre: Action
Mode: Local Multiplayer
Platform: PC/Xbox One/Playstation 4

Synopsis

Stikbold! is a groovy 70s-themed single and local multiplayer fantasy dodgeball game with intense, quirky arenas and chaos-inducing random events which change the outcome of each round.

Gameplay

The main point of the game is to simply play dodgeball, but with a twist. Once the character has been hit, you are dazed momentarily. The player can either a, be hit again and be knocked out, or b, evade the ball and return to their normal state. If the opposing team succeeds in knocking out a member of your team, the member still conscious will be able to revive his team mate. Be warned, you are more vulnerable while doing so.

The story itself is really basic, but you can't expect much from a game about something like this. There is plenty of humor injected throughout, largely through the little amount of characters that you will come by. That makes the story throughout the game exciting to some extent. You can also skip the cut scenes if you really aren't interested in the story at all.

You play as a pair of dodgeball players, who every year have won first place in the local dodgeball tournament. But last year, they places second to their rival team. The two teams meet again in the finals this year. While training for the match, the duo spot the rival girls arrive to the gym. While the girls are stretching, someone dressed as the devil comes and kidnaps them. The duo hunt them down, going through hippies, oil rigs, and moby whale.

Every few levels, you will encounter a special boss. You must eliminate the boss using your dodgeball skills, while avoiding the bosses attacks, as well as other obstacles throughout the mission.

Each mission has three special objectives, and if you complete all three special objectives, you unlock an achievement. As you progress through the story, you unlock alternative playable characters you can use within the "quick play" option.

Alongside the story mode, is a local multiplayer mode. In this mode, you can play with up to 3 friends locally. You can select characters you've unlocked from going through the main story mode.

Graphics

The developers have made the characters with a Minecraft aspect, with cubical and square features used to make up the bodies of them. For a game of this stature, the graphics are pretty well done. It has graphics similar, but not exactly like Roblox, but if Roblox was from a sky view. You don't have much lenience, but you are able to see everything going on from your screen.

As you will see in the images below, there are a vast amount of locations this game will take place in, plus more that I didn't add pictures off. You can get a real good look at the type of graphics this game brings. For the most part, for a game about dodgeball, the graphics are pretty good. It fits the game well. Not too much is going on in the background, so you aren't distracted by that, and your focus is more on the action happening in the field. But, not too little is happening either, and it doesn't look like it's just a blur or various colors and shapes.

Controls

The controls are very simple and easy to understand. With three basic buttons on the Xbox Controller. You can use one button to Throw the ball/ push an opponent (cannot have ball in your hand). You can dodge using another button. You can pass the ball with another one. And of course, you use the analog stick to aim and move your character around.

This actually looks like a pretty fun game. A bit of a humorous story line taking you through cool and different arenas. Seems a little childish and looks as if it's not the best game ever, but either way great review on a decent game!

Looks like an exciting game, potential to be a great game if they redid it now!
I'm surprised there hasn't been more dodgeball games they would be so fun.
A+ review brother.
