002 wrote Finally got around to getting some wheels. I went with 18x8.5 American Eagle Alloy Hardrock series 0168. Why? It's got American in the name, love the Eagle, Hard rock cafe is a great place to eat, and 01+68=69 so why not? JUST KIDDING they looked good to me. These only have a +10 offset, I didn't want to go too aggressive but I wish I would've went a little more aggressive. These are still inside the fender a little bit but MUCH better than stock.

New wheels are looking great my man! I think I would've gone a little bigger but they look great. Now that wheels are done, what's next to come???

Thank you! I'm not a big fan of big wheels, in fact if you go back to one of the first pages I tried to put 16's on it lol. I like more tire than wheel so if I were to change the wheel size I would've went to a 17 but let's be honest, I can't afford new tires too lol. The 18's a perfect on a 33" tire because it gives me a stiff enough sidewall to haul a decent load, but also have a lot of tire between the wheels to protect them when I'm in and out of job sites.

I'm still waiting on some more parts from Bullet Proof Diesel (no we're not doing studs), but this beautiful piece of machinery is next!

The stock 6.0 fan clutch SUCKS, especially in summer. I'm converting to the old 7.3 mechanical fan clutch so that it will actually keep temps down. The 6.0 fan clutch is electrical and only kicks on when the ECT is at 222 but by then you're already a lot hotter than you want to be. The mechanical fan clutch kicks on a lot sooner which a lot of people don't like because it's noisy but my truck is pretty noisy so I won't mind it to keep the temps down.

sounds like you got the right idea, that would for sure be better for the life of your truck, not to mention the electrical could cause a ton of stress in the future(experience lol) so I think you're making the right move. The extra noise shouldn't be too much to deal with, especially in a truck.

Now that I have nice looking wheels, the hubs look like trash. I have hub caps for the front, but since I have manual locking hubs I like to keep them exposed (like they are from the factory) so that if my auto lock on the hubs decided to quit working when I needed 4x4, I can still jump out and just twist the hubs instead of taking off the hub caps. I got the outside ring of the hub painted, now I just need to decide what I want to do with the twisting part. right now I'm thinking of painting it white but doing the FORD lettering in black (opposite of what I did with the ring) but these trucks make a TON of break dust and it would look pretty bad very fast if I don't clean it often. Maybe I'll spray it black and do just the lettering in white but I'm not sure yet.

And yes, I actually did do a legit job and sanded it down to straight bare metal and got everything even then sanded again up to 600 to smooth it out, 2 coats of primer, 3 coats of color, and 2 coats of clear.

Yeah my original thought was using a dremel but it's hard to sand evenly with one so it was just easier to take everything down with 100 grit then work back up to smooth it out.

Black lettering on white or white lettering on black?

Wired in my brake light on the canopy and put the FORD hitch cover from the Bronco on my truck.

I got the 7.3L fan clutch in today, decided against doing the BPD water pump though. The plastic impellors aren't ideal, however they aren't exactly failure prone, especially for someone like me who never loads down the truck and just drives it like a car. That car that it's being driven like might be a sports car, but it's not towing 20k LBS daily or ever. For me in my situation it would've just been a waste of money. Here is the stock hunk of junk (go back a couple posts to see the new one).

Is the far right brake light on the top out? Or is that just the lighting on the picture? Either way, good job getting the main brake lights wired and working properly.

no, it just fades out depending on the angle that you look at it. They all work if you're 6' off the ground, but if you're looking at them in a car they look like they don't work lol. I still have to angle them but I think I'm going to get a new housing because this one is just a terrible concept.
