Synopsis

I honestly couldn't find a synopsis for this game so I will briefly explain what goes on within the game. Lovely Planet is a bright colourful game in which you play In a first person view and have to complete short levels keeping speed and accuracy in mind.

Game Play

Lovely Planet has a simple style of game play however with each level you progress it becomes harder and harder to finish. With the speed of a train you must run through the level while avoiding enemies and there projectiles. You must eliminate all enemies with your super awesome semi automatic pipe/star hybrid gun while trying not to shoot innocent civilian blobs. Each level has three objectives, speed, accuracy and actually finishing, Each level has a set tI'me you must try finish to receive one of 3 stars. The second star is awarded by not missing a single shot with your star-gun, this is in my opinion the hardest star to earn due to being trigger happy when you see the red blobs in which are your enemy. The third and final star is awarded by simply finishing the level, but don't be fooled.... like I mentioned earlier the levels become much harder as you progress into the game as you would expect. As I mentioned above your main enemy is small red blobs which are able to fire projectiles at you, if hit you restart the level. With this game mechanic of dying makes you restart the level isn't as annoying as some may think due to the levels being relatively small normally taking less then 25 seconds to complete. Obviously some levels are longer then others and some have no enemies at all the only thing you have to struggle with in these particular levels is gravity and your skill of jumping. Platforms may shrink and even move to make levels even harder then first perceived.

sound Track

The soundtrack to this game is truly awesome, its upbeat and as i would describe it "happy". With what sounds like computer generated Melody's with occasional sound effects thrown in it match's the style of the game perfectly I may even go as far to say a match made in heaven.

Graphics Of The Game

The style of art in Lovely Plant is definitely unique. Although I'm sure other games have been released with similar art styles I personally have never seen anything like it before, I would describe it as "kawaii". Using less detail then people expect in games now days is honestly refreshing its nice and easy on the eyes keeping a nice soft look to the game itself.

Controls

I would like to say I have only played this video game on the Xbox one console so for this section I am referring to the controls for the Xbox one.

The controls are simple just like the game play and art style, using the left analog stick allows you to move at a fairly fast pace this has a good sensitivity to it. Whereas using the right analog stick allows you to move your field of view, the sensitivity of this can take some getting used to as it is a little fast but after a few levels you will be used to it. So the movement and viewing system is similar to Call of Duty if that helps you understand a bit better. Pulling the right trigger allows you to fire your awesome hybrid star/ pipe weapon which is semi- automatic so you shoot as quickly and you can tap which is a blessing and also a curse. I have accidentally tapped twice and missed a shot due to this meaning i forfeit one of the stars so do keep this in mind while shooting. The last control to the game is the left trigger which allows you to do quite a large jump which is most definitely useful for evading your enemies projectiles as well as doing large jumps onto platforms which may shrink meaning you must use those springy legs and jump to the next platform. There is no double jump to the game so you must think carefully when to jump onto the next platform to early and you might over shoot, too late and you will miss the platform completely. Keeping all this in mind the controls are nice and easy to learn allowing even young gamers a chance to play Lovely Planet.

Achievements

The achievements in Lovely Planet are pretty easy to obtain, most are unlocked by collecting stars and moving onto the next area. The achievement art is also very nice and of course matches the games simplistic style using bold colours makes them look great. The game is fairly easy to complete100% if you follow a guide to find the hidden areas which will allow you to unlock all the achievements.

If you are interested in completing this game please use my achievement guide!

Completion Time

To fully complete this game people have rated that it takes roughly 15-20 hours to achieve the 100% status of the game. Remember these are people who try for the completion of games and would find all secrets etc. You may finish it a little sooner then they did. I personally am at around half way through the game with 8 hours play time so keep this in mind.

Personal rating

I honestly love this game, its a game you can put on and have fun and relax if you have a few minutes to waste. Overall I would give this game a solid 5/5 as its cheap, easy to get into, and most Importantly fun!

Never heard of this game before but your review made it seem like a lot of fun. For sure a lot different then most first person games, but the colors and artsy graphics make it seem super cool. Made me want to check this game out!
