Game Information:

Release Date:
September 2nd, 2014
Developer: Maxis
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, OS X
Genre: Life Simulation

Synopsis

The Sims 4 is a life simulation game which is similar to the previous games in the Sims franchise. As the player, you create a Sim character and are allowed to control him/her however you want. Sims can be customized in however way they would like and can be completely controlled by the player. Players can have their Sims perform tasks ranging from going to the bathroom to finding a job in a field of their choice to even finding love. Sims can achieve goals in their lives and create houses and furnish them to their liking. The Sims truly is a fully controllable, in your hands game.

Story

In any Sims game, the beauty is the ability to create your own story. All players start off with a certain amount of money and have to work their way up. Players can fulfill their ambitions of becoming a rich and famous movie star or even becoming a successful athlete. In an attempt to modernize their game, they have added eSports elements and various technological careers into the game which can allow your player to be like your favorite professional eSports athlete. The story will never be the same for any two players which truly makes the Sims 4 a beautiful game.

Gameplay

If you have ever player a Sims game, you will know that all you really need to play, is a mouse. The repetitive mouse clicking may cause for the player to become bored, however, the details and overall customization and control allows for players to become fully engaged with their players. The Sims is a game you can ideally play for hours upon end and can still continue to have fun with it. Whether you are going for a very realistic sim life or whether you want to do something you had dreamed of doing but never got the chance to, the Sims allows for players to do whatever they want and see how their sim's lifestyle will be. Despite the hours of fun you an have, the random events that occur can be quite annoying. During gameplay, I found that I could invest 10's of thousands of dollars into appliances and they would still break down every other day. The functionality of the game at times seems quite tacky in the sense that it is very easy to do things. A little too easy. I would slack off during work and I was still getting promoted every week. The difficulty in the game is the biggest problem, however it can easily be changed to make it better.

Graphics

The graphics of The Sims franchise have always been relatively great for a Life simulation game. Items such as cars and pools however were supposedly removed due to graphical problems which is a real bummer. For a franchise which releases a new game every couple years, there should be no real graphics problems as the graphics are in hind sight, simple. There are no complex animations or detailed graphics such as games like Call of Duty or GTA have. These are ideally simple, but good looking, graphics.

Controls

The controls of any Sims game are easy. You use the mouse to move your character, to do any sort of actions with your character or communicate with your character. Granted there are more slightly complex controls for example, the cheat codes menu, but to play the actual game, it should be a game which anyone can pick up and play.

Final Verdict

Gameplay: 7.5 / 10
Graphics: 8 / 10
Controls: 9.5 / 10
Overall: 8.5 / 10

I'm loving the Review!
I preferably don't like Sims as it's literally just not made for me, I feel as if it's a game that I'd lose interest in real quick.
