Synopsis

Star Wars: Demolition features characters and settings from both the classic Star Wars and Episode One in a vehicular combat game from the makers of the Vigilante 8 series, Luxoflux. Players can look forward to taking the likes of Boba Fett's Slave 1, a Landspeeder, and even a Rancor beast into battle. Star Wars Demolition is couched in the time period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and is based on a series of contests organized by Jabba the Hutt. Vehicles are equipped with basic blasters, plus their own weapon. But don't count on relying only on those weapons, pick-ups including weapons, combat droids, and power-ups are scattered throughout the arenas.

Story

If you know Star Wars, than you know Jabba the Hut and what kind of a "person" he is. When Podracing was outlawed, he needed some other kind of sport in order to keep his wealth in tact. Thus, he came up with this - all out free-for-all vehicular warfare on different planets. Some of the fighters went and joined on their own free will, whilst others were forced in by Jabba himself.

Here are the contestants and their vehicles;

Gameplay

In Star War Demolition, their a four different game modes you can choose from:

    Battle Mode: In this mode you can choose up to four enemies to go against and which map you would like to battle on.

    Tournament Mode: In this mode you start off with one vehicle of your choosing. You start off by facing one enemy, then two, three, and then four in the last match. The maps are chosen at random and you must win each round in order to proceed to the next. To unlock the new vehicle, you must end the ladder with at least 10,000 credits. If you are destroyed during the match, it will cost you 500 credits to restart the match. Their are healing and energy spots you can go to in every map that will also cost you credits for every second you stand in said spots. If you cannot win, you will eventually run out of credits and the tournament will end. You can not pause the tournament as it will end immediately.

    Hunt A Droid: In this mode you can choose your desired map and vehicle. Once in the game you will have a certain time limit to kill as many droids as possible. Your score will be based on kills.

    Two Player Mode: This mode is exactly the same as Tournament Mode with a few changes. You and your partner can not be in the same vehicle, and in the last match, instead of their being four enemies, there will only be three. This is because every map can only hold up to five people.

Graphics

Graphics are actually pretty nice for a game fifteen years old. Vehicles look every clean and crisp with a good amount of detail. Even the maps have lots of detail in them. The frame rate is very nice and there are never any "laggy" moments. Luxoflux did a very nice job as it runs very smooth on both consoles.

Here is a video of it on Dreamcast courtesy of IGN

Controls

Controls are very straightforward in this game. Typical analogs move back and forth and side to side. Both triggers shoot. Right shoots the blaster every vehicle has and the left shoots whatever weapon you pick up lying on the map.
