Gameplay

This freemium game is a sequel to the first game created called Real Steel world robot boxing. This game adds a lot of content that you would normally see in freemium games such as in app purchases, timers, and more. What I noticed the first time I played was how there was an energy bar on the top right of the screen. Most freemium games have this so that they can squeeze you dry of money. What this bar basically does is it gives you a set amount of matches to play and once the energy bar runs out you cannot play another match until it refills either by you making an in app purchase or by waiting. In this game you play as a robot that has to fight in tournaments in order to become the best robot there is. There are over 20 fights to partake in as well as 4 bosses to defeat. Every match you fight in will have different and progressively harder enemies to fight. Every match you do win you will be rewarded silver stars that you can use to purchase more upgrades and modifications for your robot. Controlling the robot is a little weird at first, but you then get used to it. You can make heavy attacks on other robots lowering their health very fast and also while playing you can make finishing moves which look really cool. When it comes to upgrades and modifications there are a variety to choose from. There aren't many robot body parts to purchase, but the upgrades make up for it. You can also buy finishing moves for your robot as well as paint jobs which I think is pretty cool. This game is more about grinding then your skills when it comes to fighting robots. Once your stats are far better then your opponent you pretty much win automatically as it's pretty easy to defeat them. Matches only last around a minute or two and replaying them can get a bit annoying. Challenges can give you both silver and gold stars that you can use to make purchases as well. Overall, the game is great and can provide you a couple of hours worth of gameplay.

Graphics

The graphics in this game are great and I really enjoyed it. This game is played from a third person point of view. What I noticed was that the user interface was very simplistic and clean looking. The background drops of every match are different and very detailed. When fighting bosses you are in a big arena with crowds of people watching you fight. It really reminded me of the movie when fighting the bosses which I liked. Robots have nice animations and I like how parts of the robots tend to move from time to time. Lighting effects could have been better while playing, but other then that everything looked great. Smashing the parts off the robots is what I really liked as you can see sparks flying everywhere and the animations worked perfectly for it. The 3d textures were spot on and nothing looked blocky or smudgy while playing. I never really experienced any frame issues while I was playing either. Overall the graphics were pretty good for this game and I never experienced any problems with it.

Controls

Controlling the robot at fist is pretty weird to get used to, at least from my experience. In order to move the robot you have to tap and hold the button on the bottom left side of the screen. You can move your robot around the ring while dodging the opponents attacks. In order to hit you have to click the button on the bottom right side of the screen. You can also block and do heavy attacks by pressing the two other buttons on the bottom right side of the screen. When doing finishing moves you will either be prompted to tap repeatedly on the blue circle on the screen or to tap on the blue circles hovering over certain areas on the robots body. Touch recognition was never a problem in this game either which was good. Overall the controls were pretty good and shouldn't be a problem for anyone else to use while playing.
