Synopsis

The sequel to the famous Facebook smash hit with 40 million users
Shadow Fight 2 is a nail-biting mix of RPG and classical Fighting. This game lets you equip your character with countless lethal weapons and rare armor sets, and features dozens of lifelike-animated Martial Arts techniques! Crush your enemies, humiliate demon bosses, and be the one to close the Gate of Shadows. Do you have what it takes to kick, punch, jump, and slash your way to victory? Theres only one way to find out.

Gameplay

With over five million plus downloads this game is something to check out if you haven't already. This game adds many components to make it both an rpg game and a casual fighting game which I like a lot. Right from the start when fighting you can tell the resemblance it has with games like Mortal Kombat. The game is viewed from the side and is of course 2d. You play matches in this game against AI, fighting bosses here and there and upgrading your character as you play. What I really like about this game is the amount of customizations it has for your player. You can buy or upgrade your weapons, upgrade your skills and also learn new fighting skills to use in battle, and much more. When fighting both your character and the enemy aren't shown their character design, but more of a dark shadow figure which really makes you focus more on the background art then the fighting at times. Fighting is also pretty cool because of the realistic physics that they have added into the game to make the fighting seem and feel more better. When players kick each other or punch each other it makes them stumble and it looks pretty cool. Weapons being used also have nice effects to make the other player stagger in order to get away from you. Finishing moves and take downs can be accomplished from time to time leaving the AI stunned and dealing a deadly blow to them. The controls make the experience even better as it really makes the matches hectic. Currency can be collected from finishing matches and can be used in the shop to buy many things. The sound effects while playing are spot on and really do add to the experience. What I also like is how weapons when equipped can change the players stance and movements while playing. Some weapons might be heavy so they will make slower attacks while other are lightweight and can be swung faster. Hitting combos and hard hits is what you really need to focus on while playing as the AI can get a bit difficult. The AI in this game can get very hard at times and frustrating including when they pin you to the grown and will not let you up without hitting you multiple times. This can lead to you losing the battles a lot which I didn't like. What I also don't like is how they force you to make in app purchases for certain items in order to keep moving forward. This really turned me away from playing the game after a while. You will also find yourself watching countless ads in order to get the amount of energy needed to compete in the next match which is very annoying. Overall, the game is great, but with the amount of in app purchases they want you to make and countless ads to watch I don't think this is really something to play for a long period of time.

Graphics

The graphics in this game are very nice and really do show the amount of work the developers put into the game. This game is viewed from the side and is 2d which I do not mind at all. Characters do not have design to them and are not represented with bright colors, instead you are shown a black shadow. You might think that sounds stupid, but it actually is quite nice to look at. When fighting in certain areas your character's black shadow is outlined by the beautiful background and scenery. There are different environments to play in which makes for awesome fighting matches. I usually focused more on the beauty of the level design while playing rather than the match itself. The game has a cartoonish look to it at times which I really do like. Animations are very fluent and realistic while playing which makes the game better overall. I've never had any problems with frame loss or any other issues while playing. There are tons of detail when it comes to level design and the look of the user interface which I like a lot. Overall, this game is great and I really do enjoy the atmosphere that they introduced to us while playing.

Controls

The controls in this game are nice to use, but can be very aggravating at times. In this game you move your character by using the thumb pad on the bottom left side of the screen. He can do rolls and many other moves to trick the AI while playing. You hit by pressing the button on the bottom right side of the screen. When close to AI enemies you can preform take downs to stun them in their tracts. Kicking can be preformed by pressing the second button on the bottom right side of the screen. What I really like is how you can learn many new fighting skills to use in battle. For example, the double sweep skill is preformed by pushing the thumb pad down once and tapping the kicking button twice. Overall, with the amount of customizations that can be applied to the fighting skills and the fluency of the controls I really do think they did an outstanding job with it.
