The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II (BFME II) is a real-time strategy computer game published by Electronic Arts, based upon the fantasy book The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien and its live-action film trilogy adaptation, directed by Peter Jackson and released by New Line Cinema. It is a sequel to The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth, from the same company. The game was released on March 2, 2006. A special collector's DVD edition is also available, containing additional promotional material, maps, units, and unit skins.

Story:

Welcome back to Middle Earth my lord, you must go and destroy our enemy and take back this once great land before we lose everything. You must make our army big and strong if we are even to stand a chance against the enemy. It is up to you to decide how each battle plays out in or to achieve victory or possibly has all us perish. As you watch over the battle field you will need to make strategic decisions that will change the outcome of this war. Keep in mind though any false move can also put us at great risk and possibly put a end to the little hope we are all holding onto. Place troops accordingly and make sure to always have your back covered. Best of luck to you in these dark times.

Gameplay:

The Lord of The Rings: Battle for Middle Earth II is a real time strategy game that will test all your skills and strategic moves as you face off against countless enemies. This game takes you to a birds eye view of the battle field as you build your own base to defend and train units to go attack and capture objectives. Every move you make will effect or possibly change the outcome of the battle you are in. This game is a really fun strategy game that will keep you on the edge of your seat as you play, with all the different levels to tryout and discover you will spend countless hours on this game enjoying every minute of it. If you have every played a real time strategy game before this one is no different from any other, this game is the same build up a base and collect resources in order to build a great army to overcome any foe standing in your way. But the game play itself is really fun especially if you have seen the movies. A lot of the battles take place in spots from the movies and really make you feel like you are in complete control of the battle you are in. As you progress through any battle your army will get bigger and you will have to be able to adapt moving units around all over the battle field to take out your enemies. Overall this game is really fun and has a lot to it, I recommend it to anyone that is a fan of the series and enjoys putting their mind to the test. I personally find this to be one of my favorite Lord of the Rings games to date.

Graphics:

The graphics for this game are really nice and fit the game really good, I personally like watching all the units all charge into battle as they attack other enemy units. It is fun watching your base be built up and change as it is upgraded and the attention to detail is pretty good to. When online and just playing single player you cannot tell a difference between the two when it comes to graphics. I think the birds eye view of the battle field makes the game way more interesting to play sense you can see almost the entire field when playing, You can always zoom in if you want to get a better look at units or buildings as well. Overall I think the graphics are really nice looking and fit the game really well, I like the attention to detail the units and surrounding area have and when fighting it is like you are actually watching a battle.

Controls:

I found the controls for this game really easy to understand and learn to use. If you have every played any other type of real time strategy game then most likely the controls are pretty much the same. Most of it is just clicking on buildings and units to do different things and actions that are all done by mostly one button. I think the controls fit the game really well and make it feel like I am actually there on the battlefield commanding my troops into battle to try and defeat our enemy. Overall The controls are quite good and really easy to learn, I think they fit the game well and make it feel like you are actually there fighting.

Overall:

Game play: 9/10
Graphics: 8/10
Controls: 9/10
Overall: 8.8/10

Extras:

Sense this game is quite old now it is really cheap to get, I do encourage anyone to still get this game especially if you have never played it. The game has some DLC you can also get as well that will continue your adventure even more in the game. I do recommend getting this game.
