Synopsis
TEN is a brain-tickling board game of tic-tactical-toe.

From the makers of OLO comes TEN, a multi-player board game for iOS. Based on the timeless Tic-Tac-Toe, TEN is a contemporary take on an old classic. Enjoy playing across ten boards, compete online and offline against others or play alone to give those braincells a workout.

Story
TEN is a revamp of the classic board game Tic-Tac-Toe. It is a very addictive and fun game to play, it is basically Tic-Tac-Toe amplified by 10x. There is 1 main 3x3 grid made up of 9 seperate 3x3 grids that are played one at a time. Once a player has won one grid, that grid is essentially counted as one piece on the main grid.

Gameplay
These are some images of the game that I have used to describe the gameplay of TEN.
Grid Layout:

After a player has placed a counted on a spot on one of the sub grids, the next sub grid is determined by the position on the selection grid that the counter was placed upon. This image shows the corresponding places on the selection grid that will determine the next sub grid that will be played on. For example, if a counter was placed on the Green place on the selection grid, the next sub grid that would be played on would be the one shown with the Green outline.

There are several different modes to play:
  • 1 Player where you are playing against the computer on a choice of 3 difficulties
  • 2 Player where you take your turn and then pass the iDevice to another person for them to take their turn
  • Online where you can play against random people or your friends via Game Center

Graphics
The graphics of this game are of a simple 2-Dimensional feel, this suites the iOS 7 & iOS 8 OS as they are both based on simple, aesthetically pleasing designs.
When you are going through the menus, changing options or even playing a game, the transitions of the panels and menus is very sleek. Many apps nowadays are moving away from 3D animations and TEN does a very good job at showing how 2D games should be designed. The transitions when switching the view of the board are also very smooth, adding to the cool feel of the game.

Controls
The controls in this game are very simple, mostly simple touches on the touch screen to make your moves. You can swap from the selection grid to the main grid view by simply tapping on the main grid, and vice versa. The game is very easy to navigate and is not by any means difficult to control.

Rating
