Synopsis:

Take to the streets for intense close quarters combat, where a team's survival depends upon securing crucial strongholds and destroying enemy supply in this multiplayer and cooperative Source Engine based experience. The follow-up game to the award-winning Source mod, Insurgency is highly competitive and unforgivingly lethal, striking a balance between one-life gameplay and prolonged action.

Story:

The time has come soldier, it is time to get those boots dirty and gun hot. You are being sent to the front lines your time has come, you are ready. As you step outside in the hot sun you see your squad moving into position getting ready to defend the base from the enemy. As you get into position you start hearing gun fire off in the distance and as it starts getting louder that is when you see the enemy. You will have to use all your tactics in order to overcome the enemy. With your customized weapon in your hand and using the elements in your advantage you advance on the on coming force. When the fight finally comes to a end you and your squad stand victorious. As you and your squad celebrate the small victory you get ready to head out to the next location to continue the war.

Gameplay:

Insurgency is a very unique first person shooter (FPS), this game is not just a run and gun type of game. You must use your tactics and knowledge of war to help you and your squad defeat the enemy. With many game modes and maps to play on this game can get very addicting. The game play is extremely fun and I have lost track of time more then once because of this game. Run and gun does not work in this game doing this gets you picked off extremely fast. I recommend that you stay with your team and communicate to try to take objectives or to defeat the enemy. With there being many classes to choose from and weapons you have a huge variety to choose from to use against your enemy. This game is heavily based on tactics, rushing gets you killed. With this said it can be a hard game to get use to playing and can get frustrating. But once you got the play style down it is really fun.

The weapon customization is awesome. They allow you to really customize the guns the way you want too. This (FPS) is very realistic, if you get shot in the head your dead. It really only takes a shot or two to kill a enemy player. If you don't check your corners you will most likely get shot. This is the most realistic shooter I have personally ever played. I personally love being the sniper class but everyone has different opinions on the best class to use. You use points to upgrade your class for each game. Some guns cost more then other guns and the same goes with grenades and sidearms. I think all the guns are pretty balanced out I have not noticed one gun that stands out from the rest. There are a ton of different game modes and maps to play on. the maps range from a small city type map to a huge vast land and everything in between. When looking for a game you can customize the search for either only certain maps or certain game modes. I really like this feature a lot especially when learning the maps I think this is a awesome thing to have. There is also a few co-op game modes as well. You work with a group of players to eliminate AI targets and complete your objective. I found this the best way to get use to the weapons and play style of the game.

Graphics:

Insurgency has pretty good graphics all around. I was pretty impressed the first time playing this game. The 3d modeling and detail to buildings and landscape is beyond good. I think especially the weapons are extremely detailed and the game play is very detailed as well. When you shoot your gun there is sometimes smoke coming out of the barrel depends how long you are shooting it for. It is little details like this that make this game what it is. There is no mini map which I like I think it makes it way more realistic. Sense this game is all online based I think they did a really good job on making the maps detailed. I have only lagged out once but that was due to my Modem being knocked down had nothing to do with the game. I have never noticed clipping or bad frame rate. Especially when this game is under $20 I think the graphics are a lot better then other games I have purchased for under $20. A really good example is to look at CS:GO, Insurgency looks almost exactly like CS:GO.

Controls:

The controls for this game are pretty basic and easy to learn. If you have played any other (FPS) on the PC then you will know how to play this game for the most part. If you are still having trouble learning the controls I recommend using the tutorial, it is a very good tutorial and really does help you learn all the controls for the game. If you decide to do the tutorial you will be able to use a few things to your advantage that people who don't use the tutorial will not know how to do. One example is rolling a grenade instead of throwing it. I think the controls flow really nicely with the game but you can always changed them in the options menu.

Extras:

You can purchase your own server as well if you would like. They are pretty cheap to run. I would only recommend this for clans or a group of players. Buying one solo does not seem like a good idea it might be hard to get it active. When searching for a game you can let the game put you into one. Or look through the server list and select your own. I normally just let the game find me one though.

This game actually looks like a lot of fun to play. I might have to get a couple of copies of this and give it out to my friends and we might even end up LAN'ing this game at school like we did with Halo 2 xD

Nice looking review, keep up the hard work!
