Publishers: Sega
Platforms: Microsoft Windows
Genre: Real time strategy

Synopsis:

Take control of the entire Red Army as you enjoy countless hours of single and multiplayer fun and excitement. Go head to head with your friends in intense frontline warfare or team up and take back Russia. One trench fight at a time.

Story:

It is 1941, you are the commander of the Soviet Red Army. Lead your army in bloody up close frontline trench warfare to free mother Russia from the Nazis. Witness historic moments as you lead the Red Army crushing the Nazis in your path. Engage in tactical combat that will test every strategic skill and tactical expertise you have as you push the Nazis out of Russia.

Gameplay:

Similar to it's predecessor, Company of Heroes: Company of Heroes 2 is a real time strategy but features a mass variety of new features and graphical aspects. The campaign is so much more smoother with the graphical change and easier to play compared to Company of Heroes. But do not worry for those who like a challenge they still have a hard difficulty for the campaign. The multiplayer is very good and is also smooth for the most part. You would not be able to skip out on the workshop either with thousands of custom maps to play every battle is unique.

Company of Heroes 2 campaign is far better then it's predecessor. The AI not only move a lot smoother and move in positions you might see on a actual battlefield. Every mission is completely unique especially when you replay them. Unlike other games when you replay the missions besides your objective the enemy AI may attack you at different times or may have a large force in a different area. For this reason it makes you think on your toes and makes you think every time. Missions still revolve around capturing bases to get supplies and fuel. But your main objective does not require capturing all the bases in order to win. As you fight as the Red Army your overall objective is to push back and get the Nazis out of Russia and Pursue them into Germany. As you start taking back key locations in the war your army will start becoming stronger and you will start facing the Nazis head on. You can customize your loadout before each mission as well with leaders who have different abilities. To use these different abilities you must earn skill points which you do not use when you use one of the leaders abilities they have a recharge time on them. To get your skill points you must just fight in combat. So if you are looking for a exploding up close war based campaign then this is a good option.

Company of Heroes 2 has really come along great when it comes to the multiplayer side. They have spent a lot of time on the multiplayer and it is noticeable. From the action packed 4vs4 game modes to the custom maps you can play with your friends the multiplayer has a lot of offer and potential. The multiplayer system is really user friendly and easy to navigate around. There is a ranking system in the game as well which is based on xp. They also have custom loadouts that you can use to your liking and which can completely change a entire game. This multiplayer is all about teamwork if there is no communication your team will have trouble defeating your foes. The workshop from steam has also been implemented well with all the custom maps people have made it makes the multiplayer just that much better. This multiplayer system is unique and will put your mine and skills to the test.

Graphics:

Similar to it's predecessor the graphics have improved quite a bit in more detail but it is still the same bird eye view over the battlefield. the game has a unique graphical aspects such as 3D visuals, amazing rendered 3D models and textures. You can scroll in and out with the mouse wheel which does improve the graphics and make the men and surrounding atmosphere more detailed. The AI walk around buildings and obstacles and do not clip through things at all. Even with huge battles going on I have not had a problem with frame rate either. All around for a real time strategy game the graphics are pretty impressive.

Controls:

The controls in Company of Heroes 2 are slightly different compared to it's predecessor. The controls can be tricky to learn especially when there are so many. Once you get down the basic keys that will most likely be all you end up using sense the rest are for stuff like grouping. But learning all the keys will for sure make you more of a threat when you have full control of your army. I did not notice anything wrong with the controls they seem to fit the game pretty well.

Extras

There are a few things I thought should be mentioned in the extras category. This game does have a lot of DLC which looks really good and is good for the most part. The only problem I have with the DLC is how expensive it is and I know this is one problem with this game. You do not need the DLC to play but it just adds to the fun you can have with the game with the DLC. If you need help with learning to play this game I would look up guides and see if that helps you. Especially if it is your first time playing a guide can be extremely helpful. The other thing you could do is watch videos on gameplay that is another good way to learn the game.
