Gameplay
Similar to King's other games like Candy Crush and Pet Rescue Saga, players will have to match three or more of the same item that are right next to each other to break down and complete the level. In Diamond Digger, it isn't as simple as matching the same gems over and over again to win. By matching three or more gems, players will notice a stream of water that would travel wherever the player would select a group of gems to collect and break down the rubble that the gem was on. There are multiple gametypes in Diamond Digger that will require players to really strategize on what gems to remove. One game mode is the basic "reach the required score". Like many of the other matching games, players will have a certain amount of moves before the game is over. Players will gain bonuses towards their score when reaching deeper depths within the level. These bonuses consist of coins, money bags, and treasure chests when players remove gems on certain spaces. Some levels will require players to collect a certain amount of toys on a level. The toys will be placed over blue squares to be identified by the player and must have the water travel into the square of the trapped toy to be able to collect it. In order to proceed deeper underground, players must let the water travel to the designated area of the level that has a gold shine on the edge of a certain side. Most game modes will require players to proceed deeper underground in order to beat the level. Another game mode is Wake Up the Fireflies. In this game mode, players must did their way and wake up a certain amount of fireflies before running out of said turns. Just like in the reach the score game mode, players must guide the water towards the fireflies to wake them up. After collecting a certain amount of gems, players are awarded with a bomb power-up that will destroy all gems that the player selected, which is only one type of gem. This could aid players in reaching farther into the level or save players from failing the level. After reaching farther into the game, players will notice some new blocks. These new blocks will take more moves to break down and will make it more difficult for players to progress. As players progress further into the game, players will notice some new additions to the level like the rocket, which when matched with two or more of the same gems, the rocket will destroy any block that the rocket is facing unless the block is a stronger block which slightly decreases the block. Players can also use power-ups that are given to them on the early levels to test them out but must purchase them with gold bars which are also bought with real monetary currency.

Graphics
Just like many of the games the King developers made, the graphics are pristine when it comes to quality. The graphics are very detailed on the levels and the map where players will see when going onto the next set of levels. The different worlds that harbor many levels have their own unique theme and really brings out a sense of variety when players progress through the game after a while. The graphics really have that high definition just like the previous games the King developers had made which shows that a lot of work had been put into making this game. The wide use of different colors really makes the graphics as well as the level more vibrant with the light colors that has an appealing look to them. The little characters that players will notice after reaching a new world each have unique looks and fit in with the theme of the world that they are in. Overall, the graphics are fantastic and really are similar to other games the King developers had created.

Controls
The controls aren't anything really difficult to the novice player as players will simply use a mouse if playing on a computer or their finger to tap on the screen to operate the functions in the game. The simplistic controls aren't anything out of the ordinary and the developers seem to keep it that way. If players need to use a power-up, a simple tap or click on the icon and then another tap or click on the playing field will activate the power-up and the job is done. Really doesn't get any simpler than that. Overall, if the user can operate a mouse or have use of any finger, this game can be played without any problems.

Gameplay: 8.5/10
Graphics: 9.4/10
Controls: 10/10
Overall: 8.9/10
