Synopsis
Based on The Lord of the Rings motion picture trilogy, LEGO The Lord of the Rings follows the original storylines of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, taking players through the epic story events reimagined with the humor and endless variety of LEGO play. Trusted with the dangerous task to destroy an ancient magical ring that threatens all that is good, Frodo is forced to leave his peaceful home. But the ring wants to be found and the road to Mount Doom, the only place where it can be destroyed, will be perilous and riddled with Orcs and fouler things. To help Frodo, a Fellowship is formed - Aragorn the Ranger, Gandalf the Wizard, Legolas the Elf, Gimli the Dwarf, Boromir a Man of Gondor, and Frodo's Hobbit friends Sam, Merry and Pippin. Players relive the legend through the LEGO minifigures, as they explore wonders, solve timeless riddles, and overcome endless foes in their quest to destroy the Ring.

Gameplay
This game plays much like the other LEGO games, except this game is played in the enchanting realm of Middle-Earth ( A world created by the author J.R.R. Tolkien.) As well in this game there is a vast number of characters to choose from once you complete story mission. Once you complete a story mission you have the ability to go back and play through in a free roam mode with any character of your choosing. Something else new is that you can use separate weapons and magic items. Players are encouraged to try and complete the entire game 100% seeing as most other LEGO games has a secret level. Players can also complete side missions in the open world portion of the game as well as a fast travel to most of the locations. Players can also make the complete journey from The Shire to Mordor ( If I were you I would get dibbs on Frodo )

Plot
This games plot is the entirety of the amazing trilogy of The Lord of The Rings. Following from The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. Ranging from the intense moments in the Mines of Moria, The battle at Helms Deep, or the defending of Gondor. Almost all moments that were in the trilogy are in this game, in a fun LEGO form. So the world of Middle-Earth can be expeienced in a more child friendly way. This game can be enjoyed even if you haven't seen the films and can still be enjoyed by die hard LoTR fans.

Story
The story to this game, much like the movies is really well done. The LEGO games are however put into chapters rather than a sequential, linear. Which is put into events from the movies, but equally still holds it's value in the comparison to the movies. Paired with a really wide selection of characters, some not even from the movies but the books I might add allows for a great experience seeing as every character has a special move. This game holds its own as a good game, whether or not it being a LEGO game.

Graphics
The graphics for this game are LEGOs, seeing this is a lego game. The character models are noticable to who they are supposed to be as well as look good throughout the game. Light will affect certain situations (mainly in cutscenes.) The scenery is distinctly Middle-Earth, being a huge fan of LoTR this is a good thing. Also like other games it is a cool effect the breaking or building of enemies or certain items.

Controls
The controls for this game are much like other LEGO video games, you have the ability to change characters and fight or explore as them. Everything fits in this game as it was designed for the LEGO games and does work nicely. Occasionally I would change constantly between characters cause I liked the noise that was generated doing so. I personally feel like the controls here are what they need to be to make it as easy as possible to progress through the story missions.

Multiplayer
The multiplayer for this game is coop, both online as well as split-screen. So you can play and enjpy this experience with a buddy. This allows you to pretty much playthrough the game as it was intended to in my opinion.

Ratings
Gameplay - 8/10
Plot - 9/10
Story - 8/10
Controls - 8/10
Graphics - 8/10
Overall - 8/10

Personal Note: This game was really fun to play,it was a good time and allowed me to be the characters I fell in love with in the movies. I recommend this game to players both young and old, cause this is a really child friendly game as well as adds some humor kids may not understand. I also recommend this game to LoTR fans, seeing that this game is the trilogy.
