Gameplay
This new installment of the "God of War" series is much like it's earlier installments, but with some new features to boot! The game itself still uses third person camera, with a fixed postion, but something new is that on random bosses and what not the camera will sometimes zoom in and show off the kill in a somewhat first person perspective! The game still has combo based combat, as well as the many new additions of weapons within the game. The game still also features platforming, and I feel that some of the puzzles within this game are a little more difficult than previous games. Additionally, something else new is the fact of collecting Gorgon Eyes, Phoenix Feathers, and Minotaur Horns are used to upgrade Krato's health, magic, etc The game also still uses the chest/orbs of color, while adding a new color to the previous red, green, and blue, the new color is now white! The white orbs/chests replenish Krato's Rage meter for his "Rage of Sparta." Last but not least, in this game Kratos is still arrogant, angry, and ready for some more Spartan/Greek combat!

Plot
Picking up right where the second God of War left off, Kratos and the titans that chose to take his side against the gods, mount for an attack on Mount Olympus. In the blur of this attack Posiden, the god of the sea, is left dead and out of Krato's way which in turn floods the world! Kratos and one of the titans. Gala, reach the top of the mountain and attempt to attack Zeus head on but are pushed back when he throws lighting bolts at them, causing them to fall off the mountain! Kratos is then left in free fall as Gala holds onto the side of the mountain, clinging for dear life exclaiming that Kratos is nothing more than a pawn in the grand scheme of things. Kratos then continues to fall as no help from Gala was given, where he lands in the River Styx, or river of lava. Once he lands in this river he loses the Blade of Olympus, he is hurt and damaged by the demons as well as the lava, and his Blades of Athena are ruined beyond use. Kratos is later reborn into his previous life by Athena who in turn also gives him a new set of blades, the Blades of Exile and tells Kratos that he must slay Zeus and down the "Flame of Olympus!"

Story
The storyline to this game is that of other games within the "God of War" series. The game still has the bloody combat of Greek faith that everyone loves, as well as adding in some new features that I feel enhance the game much better than previous games have ever done. They added harder puzzles, a more in-depth storyline, new weapons, and new colored orbs to power the new "Rage of Sparta." The game makes for a thrilling experience and a somewhat historically accurate tale of the "God of War." This game, and the series of these games for that matter are one of my favorite, and I still enjoy playing through these games even today! I would recommend anyone to play this game and or the series as long as you are okay with blood and strong violence, as this game has a lot of both. Still yet, I feel that the game's storyline, even though it is better than previous games within this series, still lacks. It is a little too short for my taste in reference to other games, and I feel that they are somewhat recycling the story to these games in the fact that Kratos is consistently being betrayed by those who he thought he could trust and what not. Still a great game, but could have been a little better!

Graphics
The graphics to this game are great, to say the least. They have greatly improved the graphics of this game since the first release of the "God of War" series. They made Kratos look even older, (which is great because he does age somewhat throughout the story of these games) they made the enemies look more grotesque and Greekish if you will, and they added more detail to the nature seen within the game. They also added a new touch on characters (enemies and not) and weapons to make them have that "done" feeling. And what I mean by that, is that the characters and weapons look as if they had some time spent on them, and they weren't rushed. The game looks great, and graphics enthusiasts should have no problem at all playing though this game! Lastly, one more thing to note is within this game they added more realistic shadows and character shading!

Controls
The controls within this game are the same as the other installments of this game series. The game's controls weren't broke before, so they didn't fix them this time around. I feel that the game does well with the controls that they have set for the player. In any of these games I have never played on any of the other controller layouts as the default worked fine for me and my friends. The controls work well both ways, whether you are in or out of combat, working with a puzzle/platform, whatever it may be within this game the controls do exactly what they are supposed to do. The controls are also noticeably quite easy to use, as friends of mine who have never played this game took turns with me and learned the controls quite quickly. So, all of this being said about the controls, I feel that they are A-O-K and I feel that they do not need to be changed and what not.

Ratings
Gameplay - 8.5/10
Plot - 9/10
Story - 8.5/10
Controls - 7.5/10
Graphics - 9/10
Overall - 9.5/10

Personal Note: This game is the best within the series in my opinion. It adds a lot of new features for the players to use and enjoy, as well as keeping the old things that the loyal fan-base of this game loves. This game still has a mature rating for blood and gore, as well as strong violence and nudity. The game is great from start to finish and I would recommend that anyone of age should play this game, as it is a great experience and really fun to play! I think you, and your friends would like it, and therefore I say that it is well worth a rent and maybe a purchase if you enjoy it enough!
