Synopsis
You and your friends against the deadliest killers in the galaxy. Another glorious day in the corps. Buckle up, soldier! Welcome to Aliens: Colonial Marines. Created by Gearbox, the critically acclaimed and fan-favourite developers of Borderlands and Brothers In Arms, this first-person shooter is steeped in the eerie, claustrophobic and terrifying atmosphere that made the Aliens films successful worldwide. You and your friends will become the most badass military outfit in the galaxy - the US Colonial Marines. It's down to you to not just survive but wipe out the Xeno infestation.

Gameplay
This game starts you out as a Colonial Marine sent into active duty in space to battle Aliens! The gameplay of this game is actually somewhat scary and dark seeing as the game takes place mostly on the dark, Alien infested planet they are dropped on. You and your squad fight hordes upon hordes of varying Aliens, with a different variety of weapons and ares of the planet! The game makes for a fun experience, even though there are a few things wrong with the game such as graphics, AI, and difficulty levels.

Plot
The game begins with the USS Sephora being sent to investigate the "Sulaco." 17 days later the marine team arrives on the Sephora and they begin investigating and working to find out what actually happened there. The marines discover that there is a mercenary group there starting to colonize the world where they also discover xenomorph mutants are found that explode violently when noise is heard. (they explode because there was radioactivity in the eggs they were born from and they were born explosive and blind) Bella, a marine, is attacked by a "facehugger" and in the same day goes to get treatment only to find out that if the doctors remove the parasite it will kill Bella. The marines later recover information from other soldiers and civilians alike into telling them how the xenomorphs came about and how to go about stopping them!

Story
The story within this game is really fun and makes for a great game, as well as keeping ties to the movies and story-lines of the Alien franchise. The game is a typical FPS with a twist of fighting Aliens in a space environment. The game's AI is really buggy, and will LITERALLY run away from you causing you to have to go and find it and kill it to proceed with the mission. Also, the difficulty in this game is a joke. They changed nothing difficulty wise, so you can play on easy or "UBA" Ultimate Badass, and have no noticeable changes in your strength, health, weapons, etc The game is still quite fun, but there is also a lot wrong with it.

Graphics
The graphics in this game are lacking. They didn't put enough time or effort into the graphics of this game in my opinion. They feel as if you are in space, but it isn't detailed in the slightest. Weapons and characters look poorly textured, areas of the map, (such as metal structures and grass and things along those lines) and last but not least, the UI of this game. The graphics could have been a lot better in this game, but, they also aren't the worst in a game that I have played, and are therefore manageable.

Controls
The controls of this game are easy to use. Like most other FPS games, the controls are similar with aiming, firing, and meleeing all being easy to use. Anyone should be able to pick up the controller to this game and be able to play it. No complaints in the control section of this game and or this review!

Multiplayer
This game's multiplayer has two modes, The first mode is drop in, drop out 1 to 4 player co-op throughout the whole game. Co-op is what made me play this game and without it I don't think that I could play this game. This game is not THAT great, but it can be if you have friends to enjoy it with. The other game mode is 6 vs 6 head to head death-match. The two sides of the death-match are the humans and the aliens. The head to head multiplayer is fun and all, but never really interested me like the co-op did.
Ratings
Gameplay - 8/10
Plot - 5/10
Story - 8/10
Controls - 8.5/10
Graphics - 4/10
Multiplayer- 8.5/10
Overall - 6.5/10

Personal Note: I enjoyed playing through this game with my good friend, Curtis. We rented this game and played it and beat it almost in the same night that we got it. We had a lot of fun together playing the game and it made for a great night, but the game itself was lacking. I personally think the experience TOGETHER was the fun, the game just let that happen. So, that being said, I would recommend this game, but ONLY if you had someone to play it with!
