Gameplay
In this instalment of Crash, you again play as Crash and get to experience a typical beat 'em up platformer! The main goal of the game is for Crash to explore his home of Wumpa Island and it's surrounding environments to uncover the ever lasting struggle of the mystery behind the "NV." The game is a mission based game with other characters in game handing Crash missions to complete and what not. There are special items throughout the island that give Crash special powers like a watch that slows down time, red running shoes that increase Crash's movement speed as well as dealing bonus kicking damage, and last but not least the quad damage power-up which does exactly what is says and gives Crash a damage multiplier of 4.

Plot
The game is played in a somewhat open free roaming format rarely seen in this series of games. This game picks up where Crash of the Titans left off. The Titans, free from the complete control of Dr. Neo Cortex, have spread themselves throughout the island and made their own societies. All seems well on the island and it's inhabitants are happy until Neo comes back with his partner in crime, Nitus and makes a personal digital assistant known as the "NV." The device is used to control beings and bandicoots alike by the power of bad mojo. However, Crash is not affected by the device and is rendered useless against him. However, as said above other bandicoots and other beings are sent into a dark fury/rage and attempt to hurt Crash and anyone else in their way, once freed they all help Crash to again defeat Neo and his evil ways and free the people of the island!

Story
The story to this game is fun and all, also quite funny as most Crash games are, but it feels a little bit recycled. It feels as if they took the Titans idea and brought Neo and Crash back in basically the same effort to stop evil and save everyone on the island! Don't get me wrong, the game is still great and amazing! But, to a player of most of the Crash games it seems a little overdone compared to other installments of the game series. Crash's house can be used to change player skins, concept art, enemy bios, etc. Lastly, there is quite a bit of humor within these games with topics of humor such as making fun of SUVs and the prices of sky rocketing gas prices.

Graphics
The graphics of this game are better than a lot of other Crash games, as well as keeping them the same if that makes sense. They almost seem as if they have made the graphics within this game more HD or whatnot, all the while keeping the feel of them in the same aspect. The island looks beautiful as well as the characters on it, and the weather that occasionally changes within the game.

Controls
The controls to this game are the same as every other Crash game. Basic platformer controls that are easy for anyone ranging from veterans to this series, to people that have never played. The controls can be learned quickly and are very easy to use. There are multiple controller layouts (on console at least) and all of them work properly, however, I think the default should work perfectly for most users, new or old!

Multiplayer
There is local co-op (split screen with a second controller) featured in this game. Your friend(s) can drop in and out at any time they feel the need to and help Crash on his quest to save everyone. I feel this game is much better with a friend and the co-op makes for a great bonding experience with you and a friend! Very fun with a buddy!

Personal Note: This game is one of my favorites as I have always loved Crash games, and even though this one feels a little recycled, it is still a really fun game. This game doesn't have any blood or anything like that so it is also a great game to let smaller children play. This game helped build my gaming experience and taught me things outside of the gaming world that stuck around to even now, like helping friends when they are in need and what not. Very great game and series and would recommend anyone to check it out!
