Synopsis
The award-winning PC RPG comes to Xbox 360! The player is Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer, a witcher. Entangled in the political turmoil that engulfed Temeria, Geralt helped quell the rebellion of the Order of the Flaming Rose. Soon after, he saved King Foltest's life when the monarch was attacked by a witcher-like assassin. He continues to protect the king, serving as his bodyguard as Foltest strives to bring peace to his kingdom. The Order's last bastions have yielded to the royal army, yet one more task remains - the Baroness La Valette announced her secession from the realm, and her fortress must be taken. A month after the attempted assassination, Foltest's armies stand at the gates of La Valette Castle, preparing for a final assault. Still at Foltest's side, Geralt is among them, unable to begin his personal quest to discover the mysterious assassin's origin and identity... Thanks to the new, ultra-modern REDengine, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings features both beautiful graphics and sophisticated in-game mechanics, drawing players into the most lively and believable world ever created in a video game. A completely immersive visual experience, The Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 is arguably the best-looking RPG ever to come to consoles. Defining new standards for realistic, non-linear game narration, The Witcher 2 spins a mature, thought-provoking tale to produce one of the most complex and unique RPGs ever released on consoles. In addition to its epic story, the game features a complex combat system that uniquely combines dynamic action and tactical depth.

Gameplay
The game-play of this game is like most other action role playing games in the aspect that there are quite a few weapons, skills/spells, armors, and variations of attacks. The attacks within this game are few in numbers, but with many variations between the two that there are. There is a powerful heavy attack, and a quick light attack. Those options aren't the only means of attack within this game, but, they are if you're speaking of swords and daggers, close range weaponry if you will. What I mean when I say there are many variations between those two types of close range attacks are, the attack animation along with the speed/duration of the attack animations. You don't have to sit through the exact same attack animation over and over again. Now, onto the weapons and different forms of attack within this game, there are swords, daggers, bows, spells, traps, and many other options I forgot to mention!

Plot
Geralt, of Rivia, is dropped right into turmoil and trouble within this game. With a king of Temeria being attacked and almost slain, Geralt helps defend the king, and helps quell the rebelion of the Order of the Flaming Rose. Geralt actually saves the king from a witcher like assassin, he is later hired to serve as not only a guard for the king, but a sort of detective to figure out who the assassin actually is and bring him to justice. A month after the attempted assassination, Foltest's armies stand at the gates ready to fight their enemies, Geralt being with them. Also, while he is lending his services as an expert fighter for the army, he can't proceed to find and figure out the assassin's true identity. The Witcher 2 spins a tale unlike any other RPG before, and it quickly becomes on of the most complex and interesting tales in a RPG ever. Lastly, in addition to the drop dead gorgeous graphics and thrilling story-line, this RPG features a combat system that combines dynamic action along with typical depth.

Story
The story-line to this game is amazing. You play as a "Witcher" named Geralt in this RPG. For those who don't know, a witcher is sort of like a witch in the sense that make spells and potions and what not, but they are also trained from birth to be monster slayers and killers of evil. Also, unlike witches most witchers are male, and aren't born into it usually, they chose to be a witcher. It is a thrilling story and a must play, you won't be disappointed with this game if you like action games or like RPG's. The only complaint I have about this game is the story isn't very long, unless you are going for every side mission and extra mission, the main story is a little over 10 hours if I remember correctly.

Graphics
The graphics within this game are amazing. They put a TON of detail into most aspects of this game and not just simple stuff either. They put a great deal of detail into the characters especially. They put detail into everything; shadows, weapons, nature/mission scenes, you name it, and the detail will be there. This game had some of the best graphics that I have seen on a game. Also, a little side note, within this game you fight against creatures as well as human enemies, and they made the creatures within the game look somewhat realistic and believable unlike some other role-playing games that I have played.

Controls
The controls within this game are actually really fluid and easy to use. They use the same control scheme as most other role-playing games do. So, that being said, if you've played any other RPG's you shouldn't have any trouble at all picking up this game and being almost instantly adjusted to the controls. However, there is a fully customiziable control setup/scheme if you don't like the default setup. In my own opinion, there is no problem with the default control scheme except for a button or two that they have set weirdly. If I remember correctly, the jump button is Y on the Xbox 360 console, and since that is a little different that other RPG's I just switched it from being the Y button to it being the A button.
But, like I said, there are very few if any problems with the way they set up the control scheme.

Ratings

Controls - 7.5/10
Graphics - 9.5/10
Overall - 9/10

Personal Note: This game is the only game within the series that I have played, but that being said, the story-line and game-play aspects of this game are amazing. In my own opinion, this is the absolute best RPG that I have ever played. The story-line to this game is so thrilling and compelling. It is hard not to play this game from start to finish in one night, it is THAT great. I highly recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a new game/new RPG to pick up and play. Well worth your money.
