Synopsis:
Octodad: Dadliest Catch is a game about destruction, deception, and fatherhood. The player controls Octodad, a dapper octopus masquerading as a human, as he goes about his life. Octodad's existence is a constant struggle, as he must master mundane tasks with his unwieldy boneless tentacles while simultaneously keeping his cephalopodan...

Story:

Well the story for this one is quite simple, Your a octopus, your a Dad, and wait, should i even be able to write this review as I still can't explain how he has human children? You know what forget it. Anyway you play as an Octopus Famously known as Ocotodad. The story begins with you preparing to marry your fiance scarlet. After this the game flashes forward a few years to a point in time where they have a home and 2 lovely children.(I hate those children so much, made me so mad during the campaign.) But anyway, Octodad is pretending to be human, and must complete everyday tasks like a normal human but as an octopus. As you progress you realize you must keep your secret safe from your family as an evil chef named Fujimoto is trying to reveal your secret. But as your wife begins to piece the puzzle together while your family is trying to enjoy their day at the aquarium, just after a hectic grocery shopping day and a barbecue, and to make it even worse that evil chef keeps finding you. also along your journey you'll even see how octodad and scarelt even met, and why the chef is out for revenge. Can you keep the secret hidden, or will you mess everything up for octodad?

Gameplay:

Octodad is quite short story wise, and only features about 5 different levels, I managed to complete it in about 2 hours with difficulty and pc troubles. But the game starts out with your preparing for your wedding in which you are taught the basics of the game such as movements and grabbing. after about 10-15 minutes I had almost/basic control of octodad. Which is necessary as your main goal is to accomplish small, and meaningful everyday task such as making coffee or grilling hamburgers. But theirs a catch, your being constantly monitored by not only your family, but citizens, a evil chef, and aquarium employees. Hurt someone, or destroy your surrounding and you fill up an awareness bar, once it is filled up completely your busted and you'll need to retry from a save point. But that is the main point of the game, accomplish tasks while having to deal with the complications of being an octopus in a suit on land. Which is very hard as you tend to slip alot and are not in full or total control. But as you progress challenges will become more tedious and once in the aquarium, the employees can bust you with one single 5 second gaze. Also, along the way you'll encounter many fun and entertaining(Possibly educational beware!) minigames and tasks. But I must warn you this game will become quite frustrating and annoying, and ,may cause you to hate yourself at some points. But under all of these circumstances can you defeat the evil chef?
Multiplayer:

This part of octodad is basically the same, you and up to 4 other of your friends using either the keyboard or separate controllers most control each of octodads body parts. The parts will be divided up evenly between players and you must work together to acheive the goals and task laid forth. IT IS LOCAL, and basically the same as the vanilla game.

Controls:

PC:

On pc I dont quite know at all how mouse and keyboard would work, I assume by pressing a button then moving the mouse but once again i strongly recommend a controller for this game. I used a PS3 SixAxis and it worked great, utilizing mostly the L2 and R2 for legs and R1 for grabbing, with the sticks for moving the arms forward and back, up and down, and left and right. The controls are not the compilcated part though as you control one body part at a time. It is how it handles when preforming these movements, as octodad moves around with no control and acts like hes constantly under the influence. So the controls are quite easy, you just need learn how to use them in coherence with octodad's clumsiness.

PS4:

Once again as i hardly ever use my ps4 and tend to use my Ps3,PC, and xbox one more, i would not know the controls for this game or how well it handles. But since I can assume it handles quite similar to the pc if using a controller.

Graphics:

As this game is a cartoon the graphics dont have high expectations. But for the bar for animated games, this particular one surpasses it. especially if you have a pc that can handle it. The colors stick out and the scenery is quite amazing and detailed.(Once again I tested this on a 2010/2011 APU HP laptop to see how well it runs on older systems, it ran decent on medium on 720p averaging 25 fps. But Slowed down to 5 Fps average on the first mission.) But my major complain is that at certain times textures would appear quite blurry or under developed. Other than that this game is quite amazing graphically and looks just beautiful, especially for its style

Interesting Facts:

-It was funded on a $24,000 kick starter which is actually quite low.
-Soundtrack of 2014!!!! seriously a great custom soundtrack.
-Hes an Octopus that got married and had human offspring, you tell me whats more interesting than that.

Personal Rating:
Overall: 9/10
Story: 8/10
Sountrack: 10/10
Gameplay: 9/10
Controls: 8/10
Graphics: 10/10

Reasoning:
My only 2 complaints are :
-The length of the story ranging only 2 hours, and i dont plan on using the steam workshop functionality.
-The Physics being so demanding for pcs. When testing this on my laptop on the firt mission the simple task of finding the ring dropped my FPS to an average of 5 because people were looking at me, and it seems that this was not one of the most preformance demanding parts.
But other than that its a great game for $20.
