Synopsis
Rambo: The Video Game is an on-rails arcade, rail shooter stealth video game developed by Teyon and published by Reef Entertainment. The game is based on the Rambo film series and puts the player in the role of John Rambo. First Blood, First Blood Part II and Rambo III will form the basis for the gameplay as Rambo journeys through scenes from each of the three films. A teaser trailer was released by Machinima, containing montages from previous Rambo films. The game was set to release in winter 2013, but was eventually delayed to early 2014.

Gameplay
The gameplay to this game is quite honestly shocking, it is unbelievably boring for even the most die-hard Rambo fan. This game is very one dimensional and you find yourself wondering why you are even playing it. The game try to combine the use of stealth and open action plays, it does neither well and suffers majorly because of it. The game is incredibly linear and gets boring after around one hour gameplay. The voice acting is extremely weak and the quick time events are over used and become mundane and tedious after only a few encounters. The only positive is that the destructible terrain can bring a little fun to the game when using explosives etc. but even this does little to lift the waning spirit that appears when you play this game.

Story
The story takes place across several of the major scenes of the 3 films that make up the Rambo trilogy, it doesn't do a good job of adapting the film moments well and it over uses typical cliches, whilst this is a positive in the films for me it simply doesn't translate well into the game and seems like a desperate attempt to try and create nostalgia for the film fans to try and make them forget this horrible experience. The story does little to make you interact with the characters and you are left with a big void of emotion when it comes to anything related to the games characters. Do yourself a favour and stick to the films.

Graphics
The graphics are very awkward on this and do little to compete with games that were released in a similar date. The character models look bulky, the colours look drained and not in an atmospheric way and there is often texture and framerate issues. The lighting is very poor to be honest and the shadows don't even look normal, the colours aren't very good and players look to monotone to be human, they really have dropped the ball on this one and it's a shame when looking at other nice jungle set games like Crysis and Far-Cry because they do it so well. The weapons don't look detailed at all and the scenery is dull and boxy (nothing has curves like it should do). The game looks as if it was produced 3 years prior to its release date, it reminds me of a PS2 game.

Controls
The controls are clunky and feel very awkward at times. They feel as though they were designed for a previous generation console. As if there wasn't enough to annoy you already you will find yourself getting extremely frustrated at the controls. The button layout is okay and is the same as other FPS's for the most part but they don't make full use of the other parts of the controller like the d-pad, they could definitely do some work on these just to make them better/easier to play with.
