Synopsis
Resistance 2 is a science fiction first person shooter video game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 3. The game was released in North America on November 4, 2008, Japan on November 13, 2008, and in Europe on November 28, 2008. Resistance 2 is the sequel to the best-selling PlayStation 3 launch title Resistance: Fall of Man.
Resistance 2 sees protagonist Nathan Hale travel to the United States in order to once again battle the Chimera, who have launched a full-scale invasion of both the east and west coasts. In this game, Hale is part of an elite force of soldiers called "The Sentinels", who, like him, are infected with the Chimeran virus, and must keep it under control through regular application of inhibitors.

Gameplay
The gameplay to Resistance 2 is fantastic, similar to the first one and other FPS games but with the use of different type of weapons (alien/human) makes playing this game insanely fun. The new weapons and environments are really good and make the gameplay great. The different tasks within mission also mean that the gameplay is varied and doesn't get stale like it can do with other games. The new health shield system which is similar to halo (in comparison to its predecessor where you had a number that represented health) is also a great addition. The gameplay makes full use of the sixaxis controller and its movement capabilities to perform a number of actions. The gunplay is really good and satisfying you don't really get bored of it. The gameplay is fantastic all things taken into account.

Story

The events of this story start where Resistance: Fall of Man left off, you are once again playing as Nathan Hale in an alternate reality where an alien virus called Chimera has spread across Russia and Europe. The virus has now adapted and is ready to attack the United States, the chance of success is tiny as whole cities have been wiped by the Chimera and it is very difficult to stop. But Hale has help from a group of elite soldiers who are known as the sentinels as he tries to stop the virus. Once again the story is top class, the characters are really well developed and rounded, you get really involved with the storyline and you can empathize with the protagonist. The detail and cutscenes really help to give a proper perspective to the story. Overall it's really, really good.

Multiplayer
The multiplayer is similar to its predecessor but really improves on it with a whole rank system that improves the gameplay online by matching skill levels. The typical FPS modes feature and the maps/weapons are really well balanced/designed. The ranking system and unlocks are fantastic and keep you coming back for more. The guns are really fun to use and the maps are varied and fun to play on the multiplayer has a very nice balance to it and is fantastic played with friends. Unfortunately there is no campaign co-op which would have been nice to see but that doesn't really detract from the experience in anyway.

Graphics
The graphics on this game are a bit of a letdown to be honest they seem to have tried to take it in a cartoon style direction and I honestly don't think it works with this game, it is still sharp and looks decent but just doesn't work correctly in my opinion. However that being said the characters and weapons do look detailed and you can see all the parts that make up the gun. The cutscenes have really good graphics and the character face models are good. There is a good amount of detail on the Chimera and the lighting/shadows really help set the tone.
