Synopsis
Vanquish is a third-person shooter video game developed by Platinum Games and published by Sega for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 video game consoles. The game began in development in 2007, and was released in October 2010.
The game is notable for introducing several innovations to the 3D shooter genre, including a fast-paced style of gameplay reminiscent of 2D bullet hell shooters, beat 'em up elements, and an original sliding-boost mechanic.

Gameplay
You play a character who possesses armour which allows him to slow down time. This is a cool feature which allows for another dimension of gameplay to be added to the typical third person shooter. There are eight weapons available each with it's on merits and drawbacks and only three can be carried at any one time. The cover system is very good and has destructible environments, this allows for a greater sense of involvement from the player as it feels more realistic. The AI is smart in this game and will use things like the destructible cover to its advantage. The game also has a number of quicktime events which is refreshing whilst playing.

Story
The premise of the story is that you are a government agent (Sam Gideon) in a space station, where the governments of different nations are fighting for the dwindling natural resources left. The story is actually surprisingly good, it is a very original idea and they have executed it really well. The gameplay serves as a gateway that gets the player further into the story, and you often find yourself rooting for certain characters in situations. The ending is also really good, (I won't tell you as it may be a spoiler) and wraps up the campaign quite well.

Graphics
The graphics are very futuristic and the colour selection is very good (both bright and dark colours have a very good balance making the game look good). There is a good amount of detail on the armour and weapons and the landscapes are both vast and impressive. They have done excellent work on the shadows and lighting in the game and they look fantastic in comparison to other games. Perhaps the best things graphically about this game is the suits of armour they have really gone to town on them, they are vibrant, well designed and very detailed which makes this game even better. The characters look good as well but I have seen better from games around this time.

CONTROLS
The controls are really good. The ability to switch weapons almost instantly comes in very handy. You don't really find yourself wishing for a difference to be made to the controls, they run fine. The button setup on default is excellent but there are more options available should you wish to use them. The button placement is fantastic and this allows you to quickly select whatever action you need to. No issues here.
