Synopsis

StarCraft features three races: the renegade human terrans, the noble psionic protoss, and the horrific insectoid zerg. The storyline covers the fortunes of these three races and their leaders, fighting for dominance in a remote region of the galaxy. Typically, the player's race makes gains during an episode, but never completely conquers the other races.

Plot

Starcraft was the first game I played that had more than one storyline put into one game, which made the gameplay last a long time. There were 3 stories, the Terrain (the Humans of Earth and other worlds), Zerg (the merciless aliens), and the Protoss (mysterious and ancient). Starcraft takes place in a distant sector in the galaxy, millenia ago the Xel'Naga (Protoss) created the bug race Zerg that disappeared from their control. Recently humans started colonizing planets, Jim Raynor and rebel leader Arcturus Mengsk, to repel the Zerg and the fight off the confederacy. Kerrigan is made second in command of the new human gov't and the zerg make it their mission to capture her and turn her into an all powerful zerg monster. Mengsk becomes a tyrant over the new human and even worse terrain dominion. Raynor end up joining forces with the protoss. The Zerg attack the Protoss home planet and destroy is but Zeratul, choosen by the leader of the protoss, gathers the help of the templars to destroy the Zerg overmind.

Broodwar story: The protoss abandon their home and end up basically crashing on the templars couch. Kerrigan takes control of the templar matriarch and she ends up using them to fight off the protoss and other zerg. Mengsk sends a fleet to destroy Raynor and his men, in fact he sends several fleets to try. But Kerrigan comes into the picture and gets close to capturing Mengsk but Raynor comes to his rescue (how cute). Kerrigan, the Protoss, Raynor and Mengsk all team up to fight off a new Zerg on Earth. They succeed in destroying the newfound Zerg but Kerrigan (being a bad guy) betrays everyone and kills them all. Zeratul kills the matriarch (which is bad, but good). Raynor swears to kill Kerrigan but she laughs and takes a nap till Starcraft 2.

Gameplay

The gameplay for Starcraft is just like any other RTS game, you have your buildings and troops and you control you troops to destroy the opponents base. But what is nice about Starcraft is the amount of troops, buildings, and upgrades that you get to choose from. There are about 14 troops per race and about 12ish builds per race with the addition building addons that the Terran buildings have. A great thing about the gameplay is the fact that it's not just a race to upgrade your troops and buildings all the way and build a massive army to attack the other base, you can play without much progression and rush the other teams and completely wipe them out. Also the end game troops are not completely overpowered so there is some balancing, although if you have a Terran Battlecruiser and you are versing a team of Protoss, they might have upgraded their Zealots and Templars and don't have any air attacking troops, granted they could just build them but they would still be at a disadvantage. Another great feature is the mass amounts of strategies that can be used to dominate over your opponent, watching live streams of people play SC1/2 and the strategies they use are almost all completely unique. It's almost hard not to come up with a new and awesome strategy for dishing a can of whoop-a**.

Graphics

Considering the fact that Starcraft came out in '98 really tells us that our expectations aren't supposed to be high and they might not be great, but I have always been quite a bit of a nostalgic guy myself so the graphics are beautiful. Starcraft features some awesomely high detailed graphics for the time. I mean seriously looking at the pictures (provided in the spoiler below) those were some feats to be proud of. Good graphics and awesome gameplay! Nowadays games have one or the other, but usually not both. So really out of everything in SC one of my favorites is the graphics, and the sounds ofc those are awesome too .

Controls

The controls for starcraft are ridiculously easy. Click. Click. Click and drag. Click. Really that's all there is too it, but if you want to get good and pop off some crazy macros then you're going to need to memorize the keyboard shortcuts.

I know that this is really brief but there really isn't more to say so I made sure that the Plot/Gameplay sections are beefy.
