You are the fearless hero face the extraordinarily complex and violent Evil Dragons and Orcs! Join Alexander the Hero and his son, Prince George in their epic adventure through a world full of fantasy!

After 100 battles with the Orcs, you will be able to kill the Century Evils.

Plot

The land has been invaded by evil orcs and dragons, it is up to you to create an army and fend these evil creatures off. With these evil creatures invading, it is imperative that you successfully drive them out of your land and reclaim control. The plot of the game is quite simple, however there are no issues with that as the levels are entertaining enough.

Gameplay

A Little War is quite an interesting game, you are placed through levels with a goal of defeating the enemy hero. You are given control of a hero and a army of initially 10, however this can be upgraded to a much larger number as you progress. When entering a new level, you are placed in a scenario with the enemy hero and his army on one side of the map, and your own hero and army on the other. You can either charge at the enemy with just your hero, troops or both. The aim is to defeat the enemy hero, this can be accomplished by defeating him in any way, even if he has majority of his army remaining. Its quite a simple task, however as you progress throughout the levels you are faced with more formidable opponents and larger armies. You can customise the hero and army, upgrading their level, attack damage, health and defence. You are also given the option to purchase power-ups to be used within the game, these are accessible to use once you earn a certain amount of energy. Energy is earnt over time when being in a level, once the required amount of energy is acquired, you can use the power-up. These then can then be used after a short period of time, indicated by a shadowed eclipse over the button, once the button has had the shadowed eclipse disappear and you have the right energy level, the power-up can be used again. These customisable options are able to be purchased with real currency, or in-game currency that is earnt with successfully completing new levels. Through your progression with the game, you will be faced to fight dragons and high levelled orcs, these carry their own power-ups and will use them against you. Strategy comes into these fights, requiring you to think a little before just jumping in there and seeing what happens. The gameplay as a whole is a little repetitive and lacks new things, the levels are pretty much the same, except you are facing larger armies and formidable heroes.

Graphics

The graphics in A Little War are average, however the overall cartoon feel of the game is nice and adds some unique character. The heroes and champions all have some detail there, nothing special though. Each unit within the game bobbles up and down as they stand still, or move around in tight formations. When the heroes or soldiers attack, there is some very nice detailed animations. Once an enemy is slain, you can see them falling over - again adding to the overall feel of the game, coins and chests (in rare cases, keys) fly out from the defeated soldier or hero, these have quite a nice look and feel to them making the game more appealing. The interface of the game is done quite nicely, the vibrant use of colours is done very well creating quite a nice atmosphere and look. All of the buttons and controls are detailed nicely, there is also some very nice use of reflection throughout the interface and buttons that make the game look even better. Overall, the graphics are average, however being a game optimised for smaller devices, the graphics are good enough. Nothing amazing, but a significant amount of detail to make the game appealing enough.

Controls

The controls are incredibly basic, you are given a button to move the troops and to move your hero. Pressing the button either moves them, or halts them depending on their previous action. Although the controls are extremely basic, it works incredibly well for a game optimised for the devices it is on. The controls are very easy to pick up and master - being only 2 buttons the average user should find no difficulty with them. The other buttons present within the game, are a circular button to user power-ups and another for pausing the game. Overall the simplicity of the controls and their ease to pick up and learn so adequately makes the game throughly enjoyable without having to worry about spending time learning controls, with the devices generally being small it is also incredibly easy to use on devices such as the iPhone.
