Info
Title: Risen 2: Dark Waters
Genre: RPG
Developer: Piranha Bytes
Publisher: Deep Silver
Release Date: 26 Apr 2012

Synopsis
Set several years after the end of Risen, raging titans have devastated the world and pushed humanity to the brink of existence. Subsequently, monstrous creatures have risen from the watery depths of the sea and their attacks have brought all seafaring to a grinding halt. The hero, now a member of the Inquisition, is sent out to find out how to stop the chaos caused by these creatures from the deep. His quest begins with rumors that the pirates who frequent the southern islands are the only ones who know a way to get rid of the creatures once and for all and end their reign of terror.

Gameplay
The game starts of in a very professional manor, with the menu of "Play Game", "Load Game", "Options" and "Quit". Once you hit the Play Game button if start by showing a ship coming into port then getting struck by some sort of sea monster the port is alerted by the storm initially but then they witness that. The player then has the option to go looking for survivors on the beach and finds a woman crawling from the sea fighting some more smaller sea monsters of some kind. Now this all sounds very promising for the rest if the game, but it is very very scripted, none of the characters seem to have no sense of terror and are as calm as anything. This ruined it a little for me as the script is everything in a game, especially a single player game. The cut scenes are very professionally made with nice graphics. The story is very lengthy with a great story line to follow. I don't usually play game like this, but I heard rumors of it being a great game to play, and I'm glad i did listen. Overall a really epic game to play.

Graphics
The graphics are really very good in Risen 2 the textures are very nice and 3D. The wall textures are brilliant with cracks leading off for miles and big chunks of the wall being missing due to cannon blasts, it's all very well laid out. The character models are also very impressive with great body structure and detail. The uniforms are of high quality also. The detail of the sea isn't the best but it is more than adequate as it does contain some sea spray from high waves hitting the walls, but the waves aren't really existent, so it's just random sea spray from the middle of no where. Last thing about the graphics side is the layout of the navigational panel, it is all very easy and nice to use with HD quality of all the buttons.

Controls
The controls are one of the better layouts I've seen in a 3rd person game, usually they change so much it's almost a different play style you need, but in this it feels like they used first person controls in a third person game. Now that to me sounds complicated to get right, but they have really pulled it off on this game. They are really easy the learn and use with practice of course, but they really are suitable for the younger gamer to. If you are unhappy with the layout of the buttons, you can always change them in the games in-built button mapper to suit your specifications.
