Synopsis:
Featuring 12 playable characters throughout history, including a Roman Centurion and a priest during the period of Inquisition, the story follows Alexandra Roivas, a young, beautiful woman whose grandfather's body has just been found in his dark and moody mansion, bloodied and torn apart, his head missing. When she learns that the local police have been unable to uncover any clues regarding the obvious murder, she decides to take matters into her own hands. It's when she arrives at her deceased relative's mansion to investigate that the tale of Eternal Darkness truly begins.

Plot:
Eternal Darkness revolves around 4 godlike beings called ancients, the main antagonist call Pious Augustus and 11 other playable characters. The game is set in 4 different place them being: The Roivas family mansion which has the ruined city of Ehn'gha beneath it this is in Rhode island, United States. The Forbidden City in Persia. The Oubli Cathedral in Amiens, France. Finally a Cambodian temple in Angkor Thom.

Gameplay:
In my opinion Eternal Darkness is one of those Unique games, there is really nothing quite like it.
The game starts off with a women called Alexandra getting called early hours in the morning getting told that her grandpa has been killed. You as Alexandra search round his mansion to find clues about his murder so you stumble upon a book called The tome of eternal darkness and so the adventure begins. You start off as Pious (The main antagonist) and go through the Forbidden City to find the three essences of the Ancients there you have to choose which path you will take. Then you go through as each of the playable characters finding more information about the ancients and how each of the following characters tried to defeat Pious. The alignments are based on 4 colours: Blue, Green, Red, and the most powerful one Purple. Each of the alignments except the purple one are dominant to one alignment but is dominated by the other.

Graphics:
Eternal Darkness' Graphics are quite outstanding for 2002 in my opinion. Since I have only just really played eternal darkness recently I can't really say if it had one of the best graphics in it's time but surely it was still great.

Controls:
To me the controls in Eternal Darkness was what made it a really tough game, since you had to choose where to strike your enemy. It could also become a problem when your in a narrow hallway and when you swung your weapon would just hit the wall. Other than that the controls for me were fine and not too confusing.

My Ratings:
Plot:9/10
Gameplay:9/10
Graphics:8/10
Controls:7/10
Overall:8/10
