Game Information
Release Date: October 8, 2002
Developers: Presto Studios
Publishers: Microsoft Game Studios
Platforms: Xbox
Genre: Party
Players: 1. Multiplayer 2-4

Synopsis
Whacked! features fast and furious combat in which seven demented contestants are pitted against each other in the world's most irreverent and dangerous game show. Contestants must use power-ups and zany weapons to defeat their opponents to win a grand prize that's out of this world.

Plot
The game starts out when the player chooses 1 of the 7 selectable characters to start the gameshow. When the gameshow starts, the player will met the gameshow host named Van Tastic and he will tell you the player's character that if he or she were to win, they would obtain a prize that the character had desired. But to win, the player would have to go complete 4 different stages that host a variety of mini-games for the player to accomplish, ranging in difficulty for every stage. After the player completes the final stage, the gameshow's host Van will tell you hat there is no grand prize for winning which he is lying. After that, Van would then remove the helmet to reveal himself as some sort of demonic creature and will make you go into a battle royal with him and his 3 minions in order for the player to achieve their grand prize.

Gameplay
In this game, the player will only be able to view their character in third-person and not in first-person. The gameplay in Whacked! is simple and easy for the player to get the feel of the game. This game is nothing more than just whacking your opponents and killing them in any sort of fashion. The player will able to pick 30+ different of weapons and be battling in 13 different locations. During a combat game, the announcer will notify all players that an exclamation point has been released, what this does is that once it has been picked up by a player, the player will then be able to use a special ability which each character has their own unique special ability. The player will be able to play 6 different game modes to choose from.

Game Modes
Combat: Players have to collect the required number of stars while whacking other characters to steal their stars.
Chicken: a one-player mode in which players must run around the arena killing chickens and collecting the stars they drop.
King Of The Hill: Players must stay in a specified area for a specified time.
Dodgeball: Characters can only attack with dodgeballs and have a limited number of lives.
Grab 'n' Run: Players must pick up a trophy and attempt to hold it for as long as possible.
Fragfest: A game mode that is a death-match game when limited lives.

Graphics
The graphics in Whacked! are pretty pleasant for a game of its kind. The graphics on the characters are of great detail even along with little details on the characters are quite good. The textures on the maps are also good but bad at the same time, but does offer a good balance. The colors on the levels are smooth and make the area more appealing to the player's eye and not being too bland and dull. The speed of the game also doesn't make the textures sort of blur out when traveling as your character runs at a quick speed. When a player gets hit or dies, the blood splatter looks more cartoonish than realistic, kinda resembles when a paintball makes contact. But other than that, the game is really fun and addicting.

Controls
The controls are very basic and the player shouldn't have trouble getting the controls down. The player will most likely use just 3 different controls; the attack, jump, and move controls. The attack command can be done by 2 different buttons instead of one, whichever the player feels more comfortable to use. The player is aloud to change the control set-ups but there really isn't a good reason to do so since there aren't that many different commands for each button as some do the same command as each other, buts it would be the player's preference of how they like their controls set-up.

Ratings
Gameplay: 10/10
Graphics: 9.5/10
Controls: 10/10
Multiplayer: 10/10
Overall: 10/10

Whacked! is probably the most underrated XBox game out. I can think of a grand total of 2 party games EVER that are better: Super Bomberman on the SNES and Twisted on the 3DO. Few games possess this much fun and originality... a ridiculously addictive romp from start to finish. The low scores baffle me... I can only guess that the magazine reviewers lack the hand/eye coordination needed to excel at it. Their loss!
