Developers: Bizarre Creations
Publishers: Activision Blizzard
Platforms: Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Microsoft Windows

Synopsis
Blur is a new style of powered-up racing. The game drops players into heart-pumping racing action with 20 cars on a track all targeting the finish line and battling each other as they trade paint and collect intense power-ups, including the ability to blast other cars out of the way with huge bursts of energy, boost their speed, and more. Gamers can use offensive and defensive attacks as they battle for the lead and careen through real-world track locations ranging from L.A. and San Francisco to the streets of Hackney, UK and the treacherous roads of Barcelona, Spain. Beyond the action-packed racing filled with fast curves, sneaky alternate routes, hair-raising jumps and fully realized damage models that provide for spectacular crashes, Blurs narrative is presented through Bizarres new community-based interface, reaching far beyond the game itself. This unique story-driving social network evolves dynamically as players compete in different races, make new friends, rivals and fans, and connect with other racers both in-game and in real life. Looking beyond Blur's single player story, gamers can engage in competitive and team-based multiplayer races with up to 20 players online, or on a single console via 4-player split-screen. Bizarre has also introduced Blurs original social gaming experience - Custom Groups, where anyone can create unique multiplayer modes based on their favorite ways to play the game.

Plot
The player will take control of a rookie racer thats trying to make a name for himself. For each series of events, the player is required to gain a certain number of lights required in order to beat a boss to get to the next series which gets harder after each series is completed. After beating a boss character, the player will be awarded the bosses car that can be used throughout the career and also online. The player will have to conquer time trials, fast races, pass through checkpoints, and even get the most vehicle wrecks to gain to the top.

Gameplay
For players who enjoyed arcade racing games are going to like this game in particular. The game is well paced so the game should quite be addicting upon the first try. The player will be able to choose specific modifications to aid them in racing amongst multiple players. The vehicles included in Blur are very diverse. Vehicles are divided in separate classes, A, B, C, and D. The player will be able to race in locations like London, Barcelona, Los Angeles and other various locations similar to the real world. During the race, players could pick up power-ups that they could use offensively or defensively to aid them during harsh times during the race. By doing well in races and getting hits with power-ups, the player will awarded with fan-points that are used to rank up in the game to unlock more vehicles and perks.

Power-ups
Shunt: A homing missile which flips cars. Can be fired backwards to defend against incoming attacks.
Shock: Launches EMP domes to the front of the pack, stunning any car passing through it.
Mine: Explodes on impact, spinning cars if dropped or fired forward.
Nitro: A burst of speed. Can be fired backwards to airbrake, completely stopping your car for a second, followed by a burst of speed.
Barge: A close range attack that forces cars away. Can also be used to defend against incoming attacks.
Shield: Protects you from Power-up impacts and collision damage.
Bolt: Fire up to three bolt rounds to deal heavy damage and force cars to swerve.
Repair: Restores your car's health, essential when damage is critical.

Multiplayer
The online multiplayer portion of Blur is what will really get the player addicted to playing more of. Blur's multiplayer offers team based races, demolition which is a vehicle death-match. Team demolition. Next is hardcore racing which is racing without modifications and power-ups. And then you the 2-20 player free-for-all races which is could cause tremendous havoc amongst other players. The game does have some lag issues where other player's vehicles start to float in mid-air then disappearing underground. And sometimes, other players would shift or teleport from out of nowhere. Overall, the multiplayer portion is the best part of playing Blur.

Graphics
The graphics in Blur are really detailed and appealing. The details on the structures look excellent. Although the buildings resemble the same moderate detail on them, its the notorious structures that the player recognizes in the real world that stand out and look realistic. The details on the vehicles look spot on of the actual design in real life. The way the lights shine reflect off the vehicle is a cool feature added to an arcade racing game. Even when a vehicle is low on health, the player can see black smoke coming from the engine and notice the dents and debris that fell from the car, another realistic feature that will appeal to the player.

Controls
The controls in Blur are the standard racing controls like most other racing games. The player should not experience any difficulties with the controls seeing as they are similar to most racing games. The game also adds several different control figurations for a player to either get comfortable or try out new controls. A cool feature that really useful is that the player doesn't have to press any button to look behind them since the game enables a mirror in the top middle portion of the screen.

Blur is a fun game, which unfortunately has not gained the attention it probably deserves. There is plenty of race tracks, game modes for multiplayer and there's more to each race than just coming 1st; you can gain fans by completing challenges throughout the race, such as driving through golden gates in order and completing fan demands, such as getting a clean boost. It appears to be very balanced, unlike Mario Kart, from which it draws inevitable comparisons with the items you can collect, the items are not randomised, so if you're low in the ranks, getting a boost or shunt is far better than getting a mine. I've played split-screen and the races are usually very tight, even with easy computer opponents. There's plenty to do, alone or online, and there's a good range of real cars with different handling. The graphics are not stunning, but the speed and effects on each course make up for this. Overall, Blur is a solid, fun racer and I can definitely recommend it. 3/5.
