Overview
Call of Duty: Ghosts is the sixth installment in the Call of Duty franchise by Infinity Ward (10th game in the series). Theres not much to say about Call of Duty anymore really, other than the franchise has been around for a decade! Like previous Call of Duty games, it was announced by Activision to be released in Q4 of 2013. This is actually the first Call of Duty to be released on the new next-gen consoles, Xbox One and Playstation 4, and was predicted to sell less by Activision due to the transition. Compared to 2012s launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2s release, which sold 7.5 million titles on day one, itll be interesting to compare the two once statistics are released.

Singleplayer Campaign (Infinity Ward) (Spoilers)
Infinity Wards last game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, proved to be the end of the Modern Warfare series, neatly wrapping up the storyline feud between Captain Price and Vladimir Makarov.

Call of Duty: Ghosts delivers a story through the eyes of Logan, son to retired US Army Captain Elias Walker, and brother to David Hesh Walker, and more often than not, accompanied by the brothers' German Shepherd, Riley.

The story begins with Elias telling his son stories the legends behind the Ghosts (protagonists) first arrival against the Federation (antagonists). Happening simultaneously, the Orbital Defense Initiative (ODIN) is hijacked by the Federation, launching payloads into the southwestern United States, slowly targeting inland, resulting in Logan and Hesh escaping through soon destroyed San Diego, California. With ever-entangling conflict between America and the Federation spanning over 10 years, Logan and Hesh are sent out on a routine patrol, where they discover an American working with the Federation, almost as if to be commanding them. Gabriel Rorke, a former Ghost, is revealed to the brothers through their father. After abandoning Rorke on mission to assassinate General Almagro, Rorke was later presumed dead. Without knowing his exact whereabouts, Rorke was able to be turned to fight with the Federation, making it his mission to hunt down and kill his former companions, the Ghosts.

Through campaign missions including edge-of-your-seat moments, Logan and Hesh, along with Elias are captured by Rorke while seeking refuge in a Las Vegas safehouse. With the United States realizing defeat was imminent if the re-launch of ODIN was successful for the Federation, every resource was pooled together to launch a final balls to the wall attack on an enemy space center in Chile. Logan and Hesh pursue Rorke on their own mission to avenge their father and end it all. After all is said and done, with ODIN once again nonfunctional, and the brothers sitting beachside while they watch the aftermath of the successful mission, Rorke appears to kidnap a broken-armed Logan while Hesh can only watch as Rorke drags his brother away from him.

After the credits, players are given a brief clip showing a first-person view of the pit where Rorke was believed to have been kept and brainwashed years before, presumably through the eyes of Logan.

Multiplayer Online (Raven Software)
Aside from the basic gamemodes in previous Call of Duty games, Call of Duty: Ghosts has introduced seven new gamemodes for players to explore. Search and Rescue, Cranked, and Blitz are among the new gamemodes providing players with different ways to play whilst offering new rewards/ways to play online.

When it comes down to it, the multiplayer hasnt evolved much from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which introduced customizable killstreaks. Players are given the option to customize their players more than ever in Call of Duty: Ghosts. Recent reviews and critics have viewed these features to be the reason the franchise hasnt evolved more, as the developers are focusing too highly where they shouldnt be.

Two new features in Call of Duty: Ghosts are leaning and sliding. Simliar to diving to prone in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, sliding provides players a tactical entrance/escape, while leaning allows players to aim-in whilst near a corner and have their character lean around the corner, only exposing the upper torso. Both features are a first to the Call of Duty series, and it'll be interesting to see if either of the two return in future titles.

Extinction Mode (Neversoft)
Infinity Wards take on the popular Zombies by Treyarch, Extinction, a new 4-player co-op mode, pits players against aliens in a base-defense survival type gamemode. Players can unlock more equipment, weapons, etc. to use in their customizable loadouts in Extinction, leveling up almost like Multiplayer.

Squads Mode
One of the bigger selling points it seems to Activision on this Call of Duty game is the new gametype, Squads. Squads consist of 10 customizable characters all leveling up on their own and at their own pace. Squads are utilized in Squad-specific gamemodes putting the player against other AIs, as well as other players. The gamemodes, Squad Assault, Safeguard, Safeguard Infinite, Squad vs Squad, and Wargame, can all be accessed to play either online or offline.

Controls
Being around for ten years, it's no surprise Call of Duty has almost mastered their controls. Playing other games, such as Battlefield, Halo, Medal of Honor, etc. players use the standard controls native to that particular game. Most however, have separate button/stick layouts mimicking Call of Duty's easy and familiar controls. That's why it's so easy for so many people to pick up a controller and instantaneously play any Call of Duty. The skill level might not be present, but the fundamentals of playing the games are.

Graphics
The graphics this time around have been directly pulled from an upgraded version of the IW Engine previously used in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. It is unknown if Infinity Ward had borrowed from the engine used in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, since this engine was dubbed IW6. Being compatible with the new next-gen consoles, IW6 actually features technology from Pixar and SubD. This technology can be seen as players move closer/further away to models, showing the levels of detail brought in. Call of Duty: Ghosts uses Iris Adjust tech which allows players to experience a person's POV, and how their eyes would realistically react to changes in lighting conditions.

It was fun for like the first two hours of playing then it got boring, haha. I think its because I actually "tried" playing it .. like went for K/D (not necessarily wins) and when I'm trying on that game and die because of BS spawns and stuff it gets me upset.

I stopped playing it several weeks ago but maybe I'll give it another chance. This time I'll just screw around since that's what mainly kept me on MW2 (not so much on there but S&D was fun), MW3 (well, I enjoyed the 3v3 Playlist), and Black ops 2.. hopefully it'll get better for me.

Nice review btw!!

All I played during MW3 was the 2v2/3v3 playlists as well. I hope they add this into Ghosts. I'd play the hell out of it!

Nice review of the game you made.

Personally I rated the game 7/10. The way the game plays like the feel of it, is very smooth, like it was back in Mw2, good connection and not much lag. But this is tempered with a lot of bad things, like bad assault streaks, the maps are too large etc...
