Game Information

Release Date: October 29, 2013
Developers: Yukes, Visual Concepts
Publishers: 2K Sports
Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3
Genre: Pro Wrestling

Synopsis

WWE 2K14 is and authentic and comprehensive WWE videogame experience and the first release in the flagship WWE videogame franchise for 2K Sports. It features some new modes with a big roster.

Gameplay

The gameplay can feel clunky, but it works and it's still fun. The game consists of several game modes including 30 Years of Wrestlemania, Streak Mode, WWE Universe Mode, and even a Creation mode. Creation Mode requires the player to chose a wrestler and play through his/her career choosing different paths and becoming a successful wrestler. 30 Years of WrestleMania requires you to play as different wrestlers through various story lines to win at WrestleMania. Streak Mode requires you to beat Undertaker's streak at WrestleMania which will take you a while to beat. Universe Mode allows you to customize your own WWE Universe just like in WWE 13. Combined with moves like OMG moments, catch finishers, etc, WWE is a fun game. If you are not a wrestling fan, it may be hard to convince you this is not WWE 13; however, if you are a fan, you know that WWE 2014 is just a better, must have game. Beat the Streak is like a Horde mode like Gears of War or possibly like Zombies from Call of Duty.... It's just an extra feature that adds to replay value and it's something to do which is fun and challenging. .This game has modern wrestlers from WWE, some NWO and WCW guys and even some old school wrestlers from WWF.(DLC is a must).

Graphics

This game has respectable graphics, but they are nothing outstanding. The game runs very clean and smoothly with little to no gameplay and visual glitches. Performing finishers in this game can be satisfying now that they added the "flattened like a pancake" animation after you get destroyed by a move. Little things like doing an Attitude Adjustment to Yokozuna & Andre the Giant at the same time, to playing a Royal Rumble and seeing all of your custom threads for superstars come out randomly, to changing your menu music as you are spectating community creations is just awesome. I have added the WCW nitro music for a custom soundtrack as well. Cool! The wrestlers models are done very well, with the exception of Roman Reigns which is still passable. The theme music during the intro sounded better than previous installments. So, right off hand the game will make you stick like glue to it.

Controls

The controls have changes a lot throughout the years, the days of button mashing are over, they are now much more complicated and require more thought and skill to win a match. The fact that you're prompted by a Left Trigger icon indicating when to block strikes or reverse grapples takes the skill factor and realism out of the game, making the game less about strategy. It's like two adults play tic-tac-toe. Long gone are the strategic and psychological tactics similar to Paper-Rock-Scissors meets chess. I'm referring to the days when one trigger was used to counter strikes and another trigger to reverse grapples with a few other offensive and defensive tricks thrown in.

Conclusion

I guess what I'm saying is, the game is not perfect, but I had to get this game cause of the Roster. I am in to modern wrestling, but I don't like a lot of the wrestlers, but there are about 18 -20 guys Ill have in my universe from the modern era. The rest will be old school WWF guys as well as NOW/WCW guys. If you open your eyes, you can have a great experience playing this game.

wwe games went downhill after the ps2. Graphics on this game are horrible, commentary is trash as always and the gameplay is ok. Day of reckoning was a good wrestling game.

I have gotten all the other WWE games and wasn't for sure if I was gonna get this game. But I played it a friends house and I loved it and got it myself a few days later.

I personally like the 30 Years Of WrestleMania and how creative and unique it is.

The online has improved from THQ IMO and the gameplay and a little bit of the graphics.

I like 2K taking over the WWE games.

I would rate this game a 8.5/10.

I am currently finishing up the 30 Years of wrestlemania feature of the game, I have found it quite intriguing but the wrestlemania moments are repetitive and boring. Defend the streak needs to be more challenging I was going to be #1 in the world for it with 45 "victims" but my xbox froze on the ending screen. Defeat the streak seems to be almost impossible if you use a character like Goldberg, but I used Steve Austin and I beat him in 7 minutes. The create a superstar mode has some new features like Superstar heads which is quite interesting and can be quite enjoyable. Overall I give the game a 8.5/10.

I personally enjoy Here comes the pain better, the combination of things you could do in that game was endless. It was amazing and will always be the best.

I'm hoping they could make a game similar to Here comes the Pain, before they make another WWE game they should really introduce things that we haven't seen before, when they do that is when I'll buy another WWE game.
