Gameplay
Fifa 09, in general is very simple to every other football/soccer related games on the market past and present, however, this game did has some very influential new features and improvements which have shaped the game into what it is today. Obviously, the objective of Fifa 09 is to score as many goals as possible against the opposing team, whilst conceding the lowest amount of goals possible to win the game. However, there are many different game modes available to the player, some which have been in the previous instalments to the series and some which were brand new. Fifa 09 had Tournament Mode where the player can take a team into a tournament to try and come out on top and win the trophy as well as Manager mode where the player controlled a whole team and basically played the role of a real life manager, both of these were old features. The game also had Be a Pro Mode, this is where the user takes control of a real player or a created player and tries to improve the player through his career to reach new heights and achievements. Finally, Fifa 09 brought introduced Ultimate Team to the series which took off with leaps and bounds. This is where the player must create their own team using make belief money which can be earned through winning matches, seasons and tournaments. The gameplay in Fifa 09 was quite revolutionary and really took it up a notch from previous instalments to the series.

Graphics
The graphics of Fifa 09 were considered acceptable when the game was first released and player detail as well as the stadiums thoughout the game were quite impressive. However, this game is nearly five years old now so the graphics then do not really compare to what is expected by game developers now, but the game is definitely still playable without the graphics causing any hindrance to gameplay.

Controls
Fifa 09 has fairly simple controls which can be made more difficult if the player does not feel challenged enough. Players can choose between manual and assisted controls, manual obviously being the more difficult choice. Assisted controls are where the player simple puts a direction and some power into a shot or pass and the computer basically guides the ball to the area you want the ball to go. Alternatively the player could use manual controls where they control the power, direction and movement of the ball when it has left the footballers feet. Using these controls, the player will find it very difficult to begin with but once practised he/she will be much better than they were when they played with assisted controls.
