Genre: Strategy, War
Players: Singleplayer or Multiplayer (Up to 4)

Plot:

Its World War 1, and Germany has just invaded your homeland, OR, you're invading France and the United Kingdom, depending on your choice of play. Trenches 2 is set at the time of World War 1, with all of it's trench warfare and, by today's standards, obsolete weaponry. You're mission varies depending on which of the four game types you choose. The gameplay spans across the area of three main countries at the time: England, France, and Germany, featuring actual locations of battles in the war, offering an educational and historical experience with the game, making things very interesting. History buffs would love it.

Gameplay:

Trenches 2 offers a very good gaming experience. To those who love strategy-based games, this is one to get. There are 3 modes: Campaign, Skirmish, and Multiplayer. In these three main modes, there are four game types. The first is Supremacy in which you must overwhelm your enemy and reach their bunker for victory. The second is King of the Trench in which you must take and hold the central trench and become King. The third is Last Man Standing in which you must overwhelm your enemy with limited resources to achieve victory. The fourth and final game type is Zombie Horde, thats right, Zombie Horde. In this game type, it is your mission to survive as long as possible, as the game progresses, more and more zombies are spawned each round to try and overwhelm you. There are many battlegrounds to play in during the game, including: London, Paris, Berlin, Verdun, Ardennes, etc. Actual battlegrounds from World War 1. Each game mode, except Zombie Horde, is able to be played during the campaign. Spanning across three countries, England, France, and Germany, with multiple battles in each, the campaign can take a while to complete, offering hours of enjoyment! Each game lasts as long as it takes to get to the enemy bunker, an average of about 5-10 minutes, depending on if you take your time or not. As you progress, you unlock perks, which buy more troops or upgrades for the ones you already have. The game's troops include: Riflemen, Snipers, Spies, Engineers, Medics, Mortar Teams, Strafe Runs, Recon, and Tanks, offering a complexity to the battle. To buy these troops, you use coins, which are given five per second, and two per second in Co-Op Multiplayer. There are objects in the game that troops can use for cover, to improve the longevity of their lives and how much damage they bring. Some units have special abilities, such as the engineer, which can upgrade a trench twice to create a bunker and your team's new spawn point. The medic can heal, obviously, any troops around it. The spy can become invisible to the enemy and keep an eye on an area of the battlefield, which is cloaked in fog unless your troops are there. Allowing the game a sense of surprise for the arrival of the enemy. Overall, diverse and well-thought out gameplay.

Graphics:

The game features cartoon-like graphics, which are presented in very high quality definition. Basically, the game looks incredible. The scenery is very well done along with the animation of attacks and movement. Sometimes, however, your troops will continue facing forward, and fire upward on the screen, which does look a bit funny, but the attack still takes place. All of the artwork for the game, models and such, were well done and all mixes together quite nicely for the eye's pleasure. Overall great job by the developers.

Controls:

The controls for this game took a while to get used to. Unless you do the tutorial (Boot Camp), the controls could be hard to pick up. But for this game, the controls are ok. Incidents can happen where you choose to control the wrong group of troops because its hard to pick one group from a crowd of multiple troups. You move troops by creating a path with your finger, and once in combat, they don't break away for anything. Which can create issues in the gameplay. Overall, good controls, but a few things that need to be fixed.

Ratings:

Plot: 9/10
Gameplay: 9/10
Graphics: 9/10
Controls: 7/10
Overall: 8.5/10
