Plot
Star Wars: Battlefront has a much shorter campaign compared to its sequel as the game is based off of the movies and the final movie had not been released when this game was released. The game begins with the player in control of an Imperial stormtrooper or a separatist troop. The beginning of the game follows the first three movies and half way through the campaign it switches to the fourth and fifth movie including battles on Namboo, Tatooine etc... The campaign finishes with a final battle on Kashyyyk like the movies with nobody winning or losing the war.

Gameplay
This game consists of both a single-player mode and a multi-player mode. Single-player mode has story mode, galactic conquest and instant action. Story mode follows the plot explained above and the player must complete the current mission to unlock the next area. Galactic conquest allows the player to attack a planet of his own choice and battle the natives to that planet to take it over. The planet is taken when the player wins two battles on the planet. Instant action allows the player to select any map, enemy and rules he likes and immediately enter the action. Multi-player mode supports up to sixteen players on a server at one time, however most of the lobby is usually filled with bots until other human players are found and join the game. There are aspects of this game in first-person and third-person to allow the player to choose which angle he prefers. The player has an option of four different troops when he first spawns, and eventually a fifth special troop which is unlocked during game play. There are also a small amount of vehicles available on some maps which are quite powerful but fun to destroy. During battle a Jedi or Sith may spawn to fight amongst or against the player to give one team a better advantage.

Graphics
The graphics of Star Wars: Battlefront are very good for the time of its release and were some of the best graphics around in 2004. The players and vehicles are very detailed and look quite realistic. The surrounding environments are probably the only thing lacking in detail but are still clean and do not hinder gameplay at all. The graphics definitely enhance the gameplay and are another feature which caused so many fans to buy this game.

Controls
The controls of this game are very similar to most other shooters and there is nothing at all which is difficult to learn. New gamers and hardcore gamers should easily be able to pick up the controls. The controls do not change much between first-person and third-person camera angles and vehicles are also extremely simple to control. Overall very simple controls which are no cause for concern.
