Synopsis
Joanna Dark is back in the Perfect Dark prequel, Perfect Dark Zero. When a routine mission uncovers a global conspiracy, it's up to you to get to the bottom of it.

Story
Set in the year 2020 which is three years after the previous game Perfect Darkness, Joanna Dark has returned to fight against a Chinese criminal organisation called Triad. When Joanna goes to rescue her friend who dies but provides her with crucial information first, her father and boss Jack Dark is captured and taken hostage by dataDyne (a world-wide corporation) in the Chinese Mountains. Her father is killed by dataDyne and a man named Dr. Eustace Caroll searched Jacks mind before he died to find any useful information. Then Dr. Eustace Caroll is killed by Joannas friend Chandra. It looks bleak for Joanna but she is saved by a group of agents who she joins to fight with against dataDyne. dataDyne travel to Africa to search for artifacts which are said to give humans superpowers, so Joana and the agents travel there to stop them. During the time in Africa Joanna gets revenge by killing the man who killed her father and then the owner of dataDyne. At the end it seems Joanna joins the group of agents who call themselves Carrington Institute.

Gameplay
Perfect Dark Zero has three modes, singleplayer, multiplayer and co-operative. The singleplayer consists of fourteen missions using Joanna Dark. There are three difficulties offered, but when the game has been completed a fourth difficulty is unlocked called Dark Agent, which is the hardest difficulty on the game. The story is quite short but very fun to play through. Co-operative mode is two players play through the campaign together and can be done through Xbox Live or by split-screen. The campaign differs slightly from the singleplayer as when one player dies, the other player then has to find his/her corpse and revive them. Also some doors or rooms can only be opened by teamwork which is not required in singleplayer. Multiplayer mode on Perfect Dark Zero is very unique. The game offers lobbies of up to 32 players who can play together simultaneously. There are two game types, Deathmatch and DarkOps. Deathmatch consists of different game types such as team deathmatch, capture the flag and territorial games. Weapons and powerups can be found laying around the map for players to use. In DarkOps the player has to earn credits by killing enemies and playing the objective to buy new weapons and powerups. DarkOps is a team-only game mode. The online mode also contains bots in case there is trouble finding other players on Xbox Live.

Graphics
The graphics on Perfect Dark Zero are very good and highly detailed. It is noticeable that the environment seems a little bright and shiny but that is nothing to worry about. The explosions and weapons have been finely polished and look great, however not so much detail has been put into creating the characters. In my opinion, the game has fantastic graphics to say it was released in 2005.

Controls
The controls are similar to most first person games and easy to pick up. I did find changing weapons to be quite a chore at first but I picked it up after the first few missions. One thing worth mentioning is that there is no button to jump in the game however you can interact with obstacles. Overall there are no problems with the controls and they are extremely simple.

I used to love perfect dark.

The missions were awesome and so was the online.

I haven't played it in a few years and if i go back on it now i may not think it was as good as it was but it was amazing in it's prime.

I would certainly give it a 9/10.
