3) Gameplay

South Surfers is a neat and addicting game. South Surfers is a surfing app where you control a penguin on a surf board while battling waves. The goal is to stay on your surf board for as long as you can before you wipe out. You can do tricks while play such as jumping high in the air and if you want you can do flips. Doing flips wont give you points but it is fun doing them anyways. You get points for going high in the air and how far you go. While in mid air you can smash into ice junks allowing you to go faster. You can choose your size of waves. The choices are Peaceful wave, Wild wave, and Tsunami wave. Another game mode is Rodeo Mode. In Rodeo mode it is the same as the regular modes where you can choose your size of waves but instead of move smoothly, you move rapidly as if you were on a bull. It is a simple and very fun game of trying to stay on your board.

4) Controls

The controls for South Surfer are very simple. To move forward all you have to do is tilt the screen forward. If you want to jump then tap the screen or shake your device. If you want to lean more to the right or to the left then tilt it either way. It is easy to play.

5) Graphics

In South Surfers the graphics are lovely for a small arcade game. I love how the scene is tropical, maybe somewhere like Hawaii. What really stands out to me is how when you move along on the water, the water is propelled backwards from the sides and back of the surf board. The waves look nice and detailed with different shades of blue. But sometimes randomly you play during the sunset and the water is different shades of red. It is quite pretty.

6) Music/Sounds

South Surfer has different sounds. It also has music playing while you play. It is a happy maybe Hawaiian beat theme. While playing you can hear the waves crash and seagulls. Also when you jump or wipe out the penguin makes noises. When you hit the ice or land back on the water, it makes a ding sound. The sounds are great and enjoyable. They did a great job on this!
