Setting

And yet again Naughty Dog come back with another epic game to add to the Jak and Daxter series. The game is set Just before the start Jak 2, In haven city. And well it was a predictable setting, but an amazing setting al the same, i thought it would take a completely different scenery like Jak X. And then when i was in haven city i was suprised and happy to know that i was in a familiar place. Overall the setting is very well put together and just amazing.

Setting Rating:9.3/10

Gameplay

Everything for this gameplay was perfect, this has to be my favorite PSP game. First off Daxter's weapon, the 'Electronic Bug Swatter' was brilliant as it worked as a gun/melee weapon, as you progress you get added attachments and modification to your weapon. These include an Ultra Sonic blast, which takes out everything with in a pretty large radius but takes quite a bit of your ammo away. And the Flamethrower, my personal favorite blasting out fire at your enemies to burn them to death, pretty cool eh'. If you hadn't already guessed, the main enemies you come up across are bugs, this may sound pretty stupid, but most of these bugs are 'BIG' and daxter is well..'SMALL' If you do the math that makes bugs pretty dangerous, especially when theres a 50ft Queen Bee trying to kill you, thats when bugs become your worst nightmare. My favorite part of this gameplay was the 'Dream' Feature oh my god it was soo fun. This was were daxter would go on his bed and go to sleep, and then your in his dream. His dream consists of random mini-games where you can only use the buttons X,SQUARE,CIRCLE,TRIANGLE. The best mission was the Matrix one, where hordes of people that look like you try to attack you, and you kill them all in many amazing ways, doing flips, flying kicks, even flips+kicks. As you got to a certain score on these mini-games you would unlock another also using only 4 buttons they were fun, but the Matrix one was the best without a doubt. This was a nice little break you could have when the campaign is dragging abit, which is why love this series because they always add something in to pass the time. They brang back the 'Orbs' these were floating orange orbs that you collect and after you have collected a certain amount you unlock a video, most of the videos were random and funny, others go in to detail about the story. Overall the gameplay was really fun, nothing i really disliked so all in all an amazing game!

Gameplay Rating:9.6/10

Graphics

The game had pretty amazing graphics, better that its previous when it came to certain powers, such as the jetpack looked real and not some really bad edited fire, and shooting looked really realistic. The visuals in all were pretty amazing. They made daxter look more detailed than previous games but that may have been because Jak was the main character. Overall the graphics were smooth, brilliant and i loved them!

Controls

The controls were pretty simple, like previous games this was a platformer so it had basic controls, if you had played the original series, then this would have been a piece of cake as they used to same controls for daxter, which is why i like the series as they never change the controls since the first one. Which is why you can never go wrong with a bit of Jak and Daxter! Overall the controls were good, simple and easy.

Controls Rating:9.8/10

Game Reception

Daxter was very well received by critics. IGN gave it a 9/10 and GameSpot gave it a 9.1/10. It has a 86.2% at Game Rankings. As of June 11, 2008, the game has sold 2.3 million copies.

Overall

Overall this was another amazing breakthrough to the amazing Jak and Daxter Series. I hope they make another but make it twice as good as this one, i want the series to carry on as an amazing one. Everything about this game was amazing, from the enemies, down to being in the Matrix, having Flamethrowers. The game just had everything a passionate gamer would want.

Overall Rating:9.7/10
