Synopsis

The Matrix: Path of Neo is the third video game based on the Matrix series and the second developed by Shiny Entertainment. Players control the character Neo, participating in scenes from the films. It was released on October 4, 2005 in North America. In Shiny Entertainment's first licensed Matrix game, Enter the Matrix, only sideline characters were playable. It did not feature the series' main protagonist Neo, and due to its nature as an extension of the films' storyline, had few recreations of scenes in the film trilogy. David Perry, president of Shiny Entertainment Inc, has stated that Path of Neo is "basically the game that gamers wanted first time around... The Neo Game!".

Setting

The game is set in our world but the world we belive to be true is infact not true, Earth as we know it is actually refered to as the matrix and anyone inside the matrix is a program, the world is one big program. And this is where you do most of your missions. It was a good choice of setting because it is kinda familier to us and its the main place of the first matrix.
Setting Rating:8.3/10

Gameplay

The gameplay for this game i found very enjoyable. There were a number a things i loved about this game, first off the fact that you could do missions from parts of the films story was brilliant thats why the first mission was quite fun having to be defenceless and find a way out of an building full of agents. And the way you progressed through the game until you became the ultimate Neo. The fighting and special moves you could do was great, the way your could run up walls do flips and spins aslo the way you could slow down time was a good feature, this way key for dodgeing bullets or having a fast attack, or if your battleing agents. Overall the gameplay was rediculously fun and i recomemend anyone to get it if you feel like playing a great game.
Gameplay Rating:9.4/10

Graphics

The graphics were okay i guess now, but at the time i remember this game having some pretty neat graphics. But still today after playing it yesterday the games graohics are acceptable it had a smooth feel to it rather than a jumpy, crap hit detection we would imagine a 2005 game to have. but it didnt and thats why i like it.

Graphics Rating:7.2/10

Controls

The controls were kinda basic with the attacks as such but there were special moves which made the game kinda annoying when you just wanna finish someone of and go before you get killed, and your mashing buttons and you accidently do a crap special move which take quite long. and then your dead. This was annoying but i managed to stay clear of it playing this time around.
Controls Rating:8.1/10

Game Reception

Path of Neo scored 64% for the PC version, 70% for the PS2 version and 72% for the Xbox version on the video game review aggregation site Game Rankings. Critics noted that Path of Neo probably will not interest anyone that is not already a fan of The Matrix, but enthusiasts of the franchise would enjoy the game. Complaints regarding the game's "compromised graphics" and reputation regarding glitches however are common.

Overall

Overall the game was brilliant i really enjoyed playing it, some slight bugs and annoyances but it wasn't to much to handle. If anyone is a fan of the Matrix Trilogy then this is the classic to buy.
Overall Rating:8.2/10
