Synopsis:

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero is an Xbox 360-exclusive download, available on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 400 Microsoft Points, The download serves as a prequel for Dead Rising 2, and is set shortly after Chuck and Katey escape from the Las Vegas zombie outbreak. The player must deal with a minor outbreak in the town of Still Creek, and move on before the military arrives and kills any infected (including non-zombies like Katey). The player can reach up to level five in Case Zero, with the level and any combo cards earned able to be transferred into the main game.

Story:

The story starts out with you fleeing Vegas because your wife turned into a zombie and bit your daughter and the outbreak of zombies has gotten out of control. You stop at a rest stop and someone breaks into your truck and steals it, along with your daughters Zombrex. Zombrex is the medicine your daughter needs every day to keep her from turning into a zombie from he infection. You walk into the gas station to find refuge. After finding food for you and your daughter you look out side to see the town is completely over run by zombies. After this you have to go out into the town to fin Zombrex for your daughter, Help the remaining survivors and collect peices of a motorcycle to build. This is a very fun short story that gives you the perfect taste of what Dead Rising 2 is like.

Story Rating: 9/10

Gameplay:

The Gameplay is mainly made to get you ready for Dead Rising 2. Your characters stats and even some of his clothing can be transferred into Dead Rising 2 as a new character. The gameplay is fun and easy to get used to. Combining everyday house hold items to make crazy weapons is one of the best parts of the game. One of my favorites would be a can of spray paint and one of those orange road block cones to make a weapon that gives off a high pitched noise to blow up zombies heads. Weapons like that and many more are what keeps me playing. The side missions are easy and sometimes fun to complete. Finding the bike parts is pretty easy and you can easily do it in the time you need. Finding Katie Zombrex can be a hassle though, and you need to do it or she will turn and the game will end. If you like Dead Rising you will enjoy this game as well.

Gameplay Rating: 9/10

Graphics:

The graphics for this game are pretty good. I liked them and the zombies look realistic. There was a few bugs but other then that the graphics are just what you would expect from Dead Rising. Weapon combat is nice and flows easily. The text box can be very hard to read sometimes that would be one of the bad things. Also the people in the game that follow you can sometimes get caught on what it seems like is nothing and need assistance getting out of it if not a restart of the mission. That can be quite frustrating and very annoying.

Graphics Rating: 7.5/10

Controls:

The controls are the same as all the Dead Rising games. They are easy to use, but may take a bit to get used to. They are very different from any game I have played. It might take up to a hour to get a good hold on the controls and being able to climb and jump right. After you get used to them though they are very fun to use. Especially when your in the middle of a enormous horde of zombies and you have to fight your way out. When a zombie latches onto you that can be annoying, having to rapidly move your joystick, press certain buttons rapidly or in a certain amount of time can be a huge pain.

Controls Rating: 8/10

Intresting Facts

If the game is left on pause for a while the mall music from Dead Rising will play.
Dead Rising: Case Zero was originally going to be a demo for Dead Rising 2.
Dead Rising: Case Zero is the only game where a person tells you where survivors are instead of a transceiver.
If you load your Dead Rising 2: Case Zero save onto Dead Rising 2 you will get exclusive outfits for your character in the theme of the town in Case Zero.

Overall Rating: 8.9/10 (The game is fun to play and has great controls but the bugs can be very annoying)
