Synopsis

Rayman 2 takes place in a world called The Glade of Dreams. An army of Robot Pirates, led by Admiral Razorbeard, invades this world and destroys the Heart of the World, the world core. This greatly weakens the resistance's power and disables Rayman's powers, leading to his capture.

Globox, a friend of Rayman, is later also captured and put in the same cell as Rayman aboard the Pirates' prison ship. Globox restores one of his powers through a silver lum given to him by Ly, a fairy. Rayman escapes the prison ship, and is separated from Globox again. He learns that in order to stand a chance against the Pirates, he needs to find four ancient, magic masks to awaken Polokus, the spirit of the world. He travels through the Glade of Dreams via the Hall of Doors, a magical place linked to various locations in the world, controlled by the ancient Teensies.

In the course of the game, Rayman frees Globox who had been captured again, and they continue together for a short while until Globox departs again to go find his family. Later, Rayman finds Globox's wife Uglette and learns that he has been imprisoned on the Prison Ship. Rayman also encounters his friend Clark, a strongman who has stomach problems due to eating rusty pirates; to continue through the level, Rayman has to cure Clark by means of an elixir.

Eventually, Rayman recovers the four masks and awakens Polokus, who makes quick work of the pirates on land. In the air however, he has no power, and Rayman is tasked to dispose of the Pirates' Prison Ship, where Admiral Razorbeard also has his headquarters. In a final battle Rayman fights Razorbeard, who is controlling a giant robot, the Grolgoth. Eventually Rayman destroys the robot and while Razorbeard escapes in a small escape pod, the Prison Ship explodes. Rayman is presumed dead and only one of his shoes is found, but during his funeral, he appears again, walking on a crutch.

Setting

well this game kept the concept of levels but it had a feel of being a free roam world. The world itself was great, but it was a very independent world, there wasn't many people but that was due to robot pirates inslaving everyone, which is why the world is in a bad condition. The setting i belive was so bazzar it actually made sense... well i dont remeber much of the game but i can remember the setting was brilliant i mean the graphics were good, everything was in 3D, usually most scenery areound the time this game cam out was 2D, which is why i enjoyed playing the game, it was a like a new generation. Nothing better than the classics.
Setting Rating:9/10

Gameplay

Well i have to say this one one of the main games i played alot during my childhood, and the gameplay was fantastic, i did have the first rayman but i didnt really play it that much so i was confused about the plot, but at the time i couldn't really care, the game had a main character who has his limbs hovering by his body, he just looks epic. the gameplay for me was great, a variaty of locations, characters that disn't make sense, magic, some woman i was trying to save, pirate robots, spending the whole game searching for a fairy that looked like a blue bear with a freaky face. The game i guess you would say had it all. The numorous quests you had to do were random, funny and just simply amazing, i mean at one point your swimming with a whale and the next you killing an army of pirate robots. And i belive that you collected 'lums to use against enimies, by using you hand a fireing them at them.Like most game the hero's powers progressed as you went through the game. i think at a part you could fly like a helicopter with the hair you had. The game also had a blend of horror which to this day still scares me. I remember the one level where you would go to the temple of bad dreams, that place was scary then and scary now, still gives me the chills so i guess you can say that you remember this game forever. Thats what i love about it.

Gameplay Rating:10/10

Graphics

The game came out 12 years ago, so the graphics now seem pretty terrible, but at the time they were amazing, also as the game was a remake of the rayman2 on PS1, the graphics were so much better than the last which made the game enjoyable for people who had the original, so it wasnt a waste of money. In all i would say the graphics were great on the character the different moves he could do, like where he spins his hair like a helicopter and flys, it didnt look really badly edited, it really did look great quality. The rayman series never failed to dissapoint.

Graphics Rating:8/10

Controls

The contols were the same as any basic platformer, with the basic X to jump R1 to AIM R2 to SHOOT, overall the controlls for this game were smooth, easy to use, fun to use( if your a passionate rayman fan) and generally amazing, even if you have never played a platformer before these controlls are a piece of cake.

Controls Rating:9/10
