Synopsis

Long before Pokemon, there was Q*Bert, the bouncing Orange mutant with a foul mouth...err snout. Yes, he had his own cereal and his own cartoon! His game wasn't too bad either, if not a little strange. It was a combination of puzzle and action, where in you had to hop on squares in a pyramid to change them to a uniform color. Along the way you would be pursued by assorted purple villians, whom you could lure off the edge of the pyramid. When you hopped on the colorful swirling disks along the sides of the pyramid, you got a free ride to the top! Strangely enough this was one of the first games to be pursued by censor happy fruitcakes. They claimed Q*Bert was an ''adult'' game because of his phallic nose and the fact he ''swore'' when the bad guys got him. Of course his swearing consisted of a bunch of symbols *(^%%#@ and a noise like a fart in the shower. They also claimed the enemies to be ''bad role models.''

Story

Help Q*bert rescue his friends and save Q*dina while navigating his way through challenging new worlds of mind-bending pyramid puzzles. Q*berts world is filled with secrets, helpful power-ups, and all the familiar characters you remember-plus several new ones! Jump right in and get ready for all new cube-hopping fun!

Gameplay

In this fun game, you jump on a pyramid of 3-D cubes. You have to navigate your way through evil snakes and mystery blocks. There are several teleports on each map, and one of them will bring you to the next level. It can get frustrating when you take every teleport but one, which ends up being the right one, but it is very fun in the end. Once you jump into a teleport, it brings you somewhere on the map, and you have to work your way back to a new teleport. There are 4 worlds containing 6 levels each.

Controls

The controls for this game are very simple. You just use the analog stick or arrows on your controller to direct which block Q*bert jumps on. If your using the PC version, just use the mouse. Click on the block you want to jump too, or you can use the arrows on your keyboard.

Graphics

The graphics in this game are not so great, but excellent for a Playstation 1 game, and especially for a game of 1999. I played this game when I was 4 and loved it. I even play it now when Im bored and I still dont think the graphics are that bad.

Overall

This game is really fun when youre bored, and I always get hooked on it. You dont realize how much time goes by when playing this. This game gets very hard towards the end. There are so many obstacles. I recommend this to people who have time on their hands with nothing to do. This will surely pass your time.
