Synopsis

Picking up where 2001's Return to Castle Wolfenstein left off, Wolfenstein continues the alternate-history World War II storyline starring the heroic BJ Blazkowicz. Blazkowicz can channel four mystical powers once he acquires an amulet from the Veil. These powers will grant you the temporary ability to slow time, enhance your vision, absorb bullets, and more. Discover hidden gold, intelligence, and tomes to trade for weapon upgrades such as silencers or enhancements to your Veil powers. Wolfenstein also includes optional side missions from the multiple cities you'll visit throughout the campaign. In addition to the solo game, Wolfenstein includes class-based online action for up to 16 players. Experience earned during the multiplayer component can be used to purchase various unlockables for use in subsequent matches.

Gameplay

For those of you that have played previous Wolfenstein games and enjoyed them will love this game. This is so much better than it's predecessor 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein'. The gameplay in this game is really fun and there is a great element of surprise. The campaign is basic and really easy to follow. You play as Blazkowicz and you must venture to the depths of various Nazi compounds and try to put a stop to the Nazis creating a world-altering weapon. You fight supernatural creatures that they have created and super strong Nazi soldiers which can sometimes be a challenge on the harder difficulties. The campaign missions are thorough however they are predictable to some extent. Some missions aren't predictable and give you an amazing element of surprise. The weapons that you are able to use in the game are amazing to use. Tesla guns, particle cannons, sniper rifles and loads more guns are at your dispose to annihilate the Nazi army and stop their evil schemes. You battle loads of enemies in hospitals, at night, in the middle of the day and even on the streets. The environments are really dynamic and they suit Wolfenstein's whole atmosphere superbly. As you progress through the game you will be able to use spells alongside using your guns and these are definitely a force to be reckoned with. Wolfenstein also has multiplayer compatibility which is enjoyable if you get bored of the campaign. It's decent but it's not that different from the campaign to be honest.

Graphics

The graphics in Wolfenstein are amazing in High Definition. Every really comes out of the screen and is so pleasurable to look at. The guns and the gunfire are bright and detailed really well. Because of that, you should be able to tell what gun you are carrying even if you have a small knowledge of guns. Wolfenstein also has a feature where if you are being shot at by enemies that you can't see, there will be a small blood coloured directional arrow to where you are being shot from. This gives you a massive edge over your enemies even if you can't see them. This effect is easy to see as it is bright red and gives you that advantage. Using the sniper rifle is really effective in this game. Using it does feel somewhat realistic and the scope looks decent. Looking through the scope enhances your zoom and barely has any sway which is visible and helpful if you're trying to take out targets from afar. Using spells in the game look fantastic as they're bright and colourful and seem as if they're going to come right out of the screen. Fire is one of things that look so realistic in this game and are detailed and textured amazingly. I feel as if the developers have done a great job on this game and it definitely looks as if they've put loads of effort into designing and texturing their game. The whole composition of it is once again pleasurable to look at and the atmosphere suits the action and adventure/shooter genre.

Overall, this game is a joy to play and those of you that have previously played any Wolfenstein games will love this. This game was definitely worth the money I payed for and had me playing for a couple of days at a time. But once you complete the campaign, I highly doubt you will want to play it again. The multiplayer function is decent but poses no addiction factor which is a shame.

Game Rating : 8/10 (Gameplay is enjoyable, graphics are textured and detailed amazingly, controls are easy to learn right off the bat and the game can be picked up for really cheap)

Doesnt compare to the old Return to Castle Wolfenstein for the Xbox, PS2, and PC... those were the days.
