Synopsis

Mass Effect 2 is an action role-playing game developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game was released for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 on January 26, 2010 and for PlayStation 3 on January 18, 2011.[7][8] It is the second chapter in the Mass Effect trilogy of video games.

Gameplay

If you have played the original Mass Effect, when you start a new game in Mass Effect 2 you can load your saved files from the first game. You explore, recruit squad members, and hunt down collectors. The player's main objective is to gather enemy intelligence and resources to purchase various upgrades for the final mission of the game. If the player's Shepard dies, the information from this game cannot be imported into the next release, Mass Effect 3. Team members are also affected by the main players actions. You must complete missions to gain the trust and loyalty of your squadmate(s). Gaining both trust and loyalty will unlock special power to help fight in the final fight. The main setting is the galaxy. The galaxy in Mass Effect 2 is way more in-depth than the original. Overall, the gameplay, storyline, and battles in Mass Effect 2 are great!

Combat

The combat experience in Mass Effect 2 had changed dramatically from the original Mass Effect. Players can no longer heal themselves with medi-gel. Instead, they have regenerating health and only using medi-jel to revive fallen teammates. The ability to fire a weapon no longer relies on an overheating system, instead you now have ammunition. Ammo is used in this game unlike most other games, in a third person shooter. There are 19 different weapons divided into 6 types in Mass Effect 2. Grenades from the original Mass Effect have been replaced with abilities and sub-machine guns. To upgrade your weapons, you must research the guns individually. Some of the upgrades include weapon damage, ammo capacity, and accuracy. Players may now upgrade their armor as well. If you compare the features from this game to the original release, you wouldn't think the games were hardly related.

Graphics

If you ever played the original Mass Effect, you would know that there was a bad texture to the game. Another thing is the constant frame rate drop. In Mass Effect 2, you will notice that there are a lot less things to distract you from the impressive visuals that the game really does offer. The designer added more contrasting colors and more textures. The graphics in this game are truly outstanding, with the art, architectural touches, squadmates character quality, and much more. The sound effects also enhance the production of the game. Overall, the graphics really do make the biggest impact that separate this game from the original.
