Synopsis
The Legend of Zelda, occasionally called Legend of Zelda or simply Zelda, is a high fantasy action-adventure video game series created by Japanese game designers Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka. It is developed and published by Nintendo, with some portable installments outsourced to Flagship/Capcom, Vanpool, and Grezzo. Considered one of Nintendo's most important franchises, its gameplay consists of a mixture of action, adventure, and puzzle solving. The series centres primarily on Link, a playable character and the protagonist. Link is often given the task of rescuing Princess Zelda in the most common setting of the series, Hyrule, from Ganon (also known as Ganondorf) who is the primary antagonist of the series.

Gameplay

The Legend of Zelda had a mixture of action, puzzles, adventures, battles, and exploration. Each new game added on new unlocks, gadgets, and more as the series progressed. The more recent games were designed for stealth gameplay, where the player had to avoid enemies while continuing through the levels. You can increase your abilities by completing side quests and unlocking secret hidden locations. The main weapons you use are boomerangs, magic swords, bombs, bows and arrows, and more as you complete each mission/quest. Every game of Zelda contains overworlds, towns, cities, and dungeons. There is a wide variety of enemies and bosses that you must defeat to progress through the game. Each game in the Zelda series, offers a wide variety of fun, exploration, and adventure.

Setting

The main setting takes place in a fantasy land called Hyrule. Hyrule has a deep story and wide geograghy over the series. The main characters include the playable characters Link, and his princess, Zelda. This land had created outstanding mythology, historical heros, and even villains. According to the games history, Hyrule formed ages ago by two golden goddesses. These goddesses are Nayru, the goddess of Wisdom, and Farore, the goddess of courage. Hyrule is a beautiful land blessed with deep forests, tall mountains, vast lakes, deserts, and massive cities.

It is quite clear of the changes that they have made to the game graphics over the years. It really is unbelievable to see that major progression that the game has made since the first title was released. Overall, the graphics went from bad, to ok, to decent, to great!

Controls

Depends on what system or device you are playing it on. I played every game of the series on Nintendo 64 and it was very easy to play. I have yet to experience the game on any other platform. The controls are very easy to master after just little game time. For the controls, my opinion would be that they are very good, easy to understand, and simple to memorize. I am not so sure if there is an option to change the button layouts, there may be an option on Nintendo but not the handheld devices.

Rating

Overall : 9/10
For being such a successful series.
Very addictive game, fun!
