Synopsis (Credit to IGN)

Only one thing can make a thieving raccoon better at his job, and that's the long-lost Thievious Racoonus, a collected work of thieving knowledge. Split into ten pieces, the writings are spread across the world, and it's up to one young raccoon, Sly Cooper, to track them all down. Angered security guards, searchlights, and lasers are just a few of the obstacles Sly will have to confront, but luckily he's got binoculars, swords, daggers, and all sorts of other fun stuff.

Graphics

For the early 2000's, this game has decent graphics. They are generally overall smooth, no where near HD or lifelike to the simplest bit, but definitely not "arcade style". For the most part, the graphics run very smooth, and if your Playstation 2 isn't a piece of junk, then it should run flawlessly, and you should make your way through the game with no problems. There are only few parts where game lighting is overall terrible, and generally at those parts it's obvious you can tell it wasn't the best. The only problems I had were the terrible lack of color and color scheme at parts of the game.

Graphics Rating: 7/10

Gameplay and Mechanics

Honestly, I enjoy the simple gameplay that comes along with this game. The controls run rather smoothly, and for kids and young teens when this was first released, it was great and the handling were basic and straightforward, especially for the younger players giving it a try. The game runs rather smoothly, where there being only specific parts in the game where you can tell that there is a bit of lag, and the glitches that get you "trapped" in the same spot over and over, there are little to none. When you are playing as Sly, you can obviously see the lag when jumping from pedestal to pedestal, or to stalagmite to stalagmite, whatever you're using your "ParKour" type moves for.

Controls:

The controls are very easy for a young child/teen to grip around, which I believe was the intention for this game. Here are some pictures.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10. I remember this being a must-by for the time and it's release. The hours of gameplay are very fun and are easy for a young child/young teen to grip their minds around.
