Synopsis

Fracture is a futuristic first-person shooter whose "hook" is being able to freely transform the landscape with your weapons. In the year 2161, the continental United States is divided after a seismic event topples the country's central region. The government is no longer in power, so organizations on both sides vie for control with the backing of sympathetic nations abroad. The main protagonist is Jet Brody, a soldier fighting on behalf of the Atlantic Alliance. He will confront genetically enhanced troops from the Republic of Pacifica in a series of battles that will take him across what's left of the U.S. Rather than simply blast enemy troops throughout each environment, you must also solve puzzles using your high-tech weapons. Barriers blocked with rubble can still be traversed simply by shooting at the ground and creating a subterranean tunnel. High destinations can be reached by shooting at a patch of land to create hills of varying size. In addition to removing and building areas of the landscape, you can also create temporal disturbances such as a mini black hole, which will suck everything near it into its gaping maw. Grenades, missiles, torpedoes, and other high-powered weapons can all be used to manipulate your surroundings in surprising ways.

Gameplay

Now the gameplay in Fracture is pretty exciting. It's futuristic and there's a lot of sweet looking features in the game. There seems to be a lot of running around in the game and that makes it quite sluggish and it's not enjoyable. As you have you to be quite witty to complete various puzzles that you have to pass to progress in the campaign. Your health is at the bottom of the screen and begins to start flashing bright red if you are low on the health. To regenerate your health, you have to take some cover for a few seconds. Now this can be pretty difficult if you are surrounded by enemies. Their aim is really accurate but if you're playing on a low difficulty then they shouldn't pose too much of a problem. The enemies are fairly easy to mow down as long as you're accurate with your shots. However, the game is in third-person so this might be quite difficult if you aren't used to shooters. Game has auto-save so in parts of the game it will save in case anything goes wrong and you fail and die. You can also manual save, which does the exact same as auto-save but if you're on a difficult mission, you can push forward, manual save, push forward, manual save, etc. So that you don't have to start the mission all over again which does happen and can be well annoying. Guns in the game once again are really effective and when you are low on ammo it will prompt in white that your ammo is low. Also, your gun is in the top right hand corner displaying how much ammo you have and what guns you are carrying. It will also tell you when you need to reload so that you can get to cover and reload ready for the next fight. You can also interact with various objects in the game to aid you along the campaign. Going next to bomb and having the decision to either detonate or disarm definitely reflects your personality which is cool. Gameplay is enjoyable and really futuristic.

Graphics

Graphics in Fracture are pretty sweet and some parts of the game look pretty realistic. Effects such as gun shooting, fiery flames and even the ground are all well textured and look magnificent. Throwing plasma grenades look great as well when you throw them and look even better when they explode. A light green plasma explosion destroying your enemies always looks great. The cross-hairs in the game turn a bright red when an enemy is in your reticles. Sometimes you can see them through walls which is pretty sneaky. Force fields, shields and reload animation are all amazing and are clearly visible when you are performing them. Sprint animation when you are running really fast blurs your surroundings to it does actually look like you're traveling at the speed of light. Instructions and when the game is auto saving are clear and easy to follow. You can apply subtitles to the game also if you are having trouble following or hearing dialogue. Graphics again are developed and has taken futuristic games to a new level for me.

Overall, this game is pretty exciting and it is really satisfying brutally killing all your enemies. Game has a multiplayer function which is pretty decent but in my opinion it isn't better than the thorough campaign. I would recommend this game to anymore that's into futuristic games and all that.

Game Rating : 8/10 (Gameplay draws the player in, graphics are stunning in High Definition, comes with Multiplayer which is a bonus and the game can be found for quite cheap in local game stores)

I had this game, I can say 7 is a decent rating for it. It was okay, but it didn't have a very strong community. The multiplayer wasn't how I expected it either.
