Developed by: Nintendo EAD
Release Date: November 14, 2005
Genre: Racing
ESRB: E

Synopsis:
Mario Kart DS (DS Mario Kto D Esu?) is a racing game developed and published by Nintendo. It was released for the Nintendo DS handheld game console in North America, Australia, and Europe on November 14, 2005, and in Japan on December 8, 2005. The game is the fifth installment in the Mario Kart series of video games, and the first to be playable via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection online service. Like other games in the series, Mario Kart DS features characters from the Mario series, and pits them against each other as they race in karts on tracks based on locations in the Mario series.

Gameplay:
Mario Kart has 12 different characters each with 3 different "karts" to choose from. In this game you use the top and bottom screen. The top screen it shows a 3D perspective of the player and the bottom screen shows a map, and where all the other players are located. The controls are easy to learn and the character choice is awesome. I love playing as Yoshi. All the characters and their karts have different attributes, some faster, some can drift better, and some can even get more boost. The main "campaign" is Gran Prix which starts on the easiest difficulty (when I say easy I mean my 75 year old grandma beat it) 50cc. The 150cc mirror is the hardest difficulty and myself cannot even beat it. Their is also an awesome game mode called battle. You can choose between Balloon Battle and Shrine Runner. Balloon battle you collect shells that you shoot at the enemies who have 3 balloons and once you hit all 3 the player is dead and out of the round. Shrine Runner is a game where you collect different stars around the map and trying to collect a set limit to win. You can either choose single or multiplayer, in multiplayer you do the same as single player except with players from anywhere with either wifi or download play. When I was younger and first played the game, my grandma bought her own DS just to play it, of course shes always been a big Mario Kart fan. That just proves anyone can play the game and enjoy it.

Graphics:
The graphics are pretty bad even for a DS game. Mario Kart DS keeps the classic look of games like Super Mario Galaxy or even Mario 64; but the rendering is horrendous. What should be round... is not round.
