Long story short, I'm going to "try" to set up a website for a family member which has their own business. I've never set up a website before so any advice for a fellow scumbag and where would I start?

I don't want to come off as a asshole but. Just do a little research on Google and there's loads of tutorials on there on how to set up websites for a business. I have done a few websites for friends for there business nothing to major though. Just something simple to just get them started is all I done |

Depends on what exactly you are trying to achieve really, and if you're going to do this from scratch.
If you are going to need things such as a Database, Payment Methods, etc. You may be better off to start with something such as WordPress. Maybe give a little more context into the functionality of the website and we would be able to assist you easier. |

There are many options available when it comes to making a website and each option varies in cost, difficulty and efficiency.
Option 1: Use a website builder such as Squarespace, Wix or Weebly which are pretty easy to setup. This option often comes at a cost of paying for a monthly subscription which to some people is not ideal. Customisation on website builders can be quite limited which is another thing to take into account when choosing which path you want to take. Option 2: Sign up to Oracle Cloud and use their free tier plan to host a WordPress website. WordPress is very similar to other website builders however you get more control over your website and you don't have to pay a monthly subscription to keep it running. This option will work with any other hosting provider, I just mentioned Oracle Cloud as it is reliable and free. The downside to this option is that you need to know how to setup a VM and install WordPress, setup a database etc. The reason that I mentioned Oracle Cloud is because they offer 4 cores and 24gb of RAM completely free as a part of their free tier. They also give you 2 1/8 core and 1gb RAM VMs which would be ideal for small websites or a database. You also get 200gb of storage which can be divided up however you like; making it a great choice for storing the website files along with the database. Option 3: Pay someone to create and host a website for you. This option is generally the most expensive (depending on your request) although it is by far the easiest. If you need something completely custom and have a big budget, this may be the right option for you. If you decide to go down the WordPress route and need help setting everything up, I will install everything needed to get WordPress running for a reasonable fee to compensate me for my time. I am familiar with WordPress and Oracle Cloud and have setup many websites and game servers with them before. |

Wraith wrote There are many options available when it comes to making a website and each option varies in cost, difficulty and efficiency. I would definitely suggest squarespace. Easy to use for beginners, good templates, large support community & tutorials |
