Hey Everyone so I bought this cpu to put in my pc AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor. I currently have the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor. When I went to switch out the CPU's and start up the pc with the new one, it would not boot up and put me into bios. I put my old cpu back in and it started up just fine. Any help would be appreciated as I thought this cpu was compatible.

Hi, can you advise what Motherboard you have, please? and have you checked if your BIOS is up to date?

Thanks

Is the PC itself an HP prebuild or is it just the motherboard you are using from this? Also, if it's a standard HP device you are upgrading its possible that the new models of Processors are not compatible however, to rule this out can you advise of the HP Service tag/serial number if it's a pre-build? this is often found on the PC case.

Hi,

I have taken a look at the model number and according to HP, providing the information I found is correct, the current Motherboard only supports the following upgrades regarding CPU.

AMD Ryzen 5 3500 (3.4 GHz base clock, up to 4.1 GHz max boost clock, 16 MB L3 cache, 6 cores (Matisse)

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz Base frequency, up to 4.2 GHz maximum boost frequency, 32 MB L3 cache, 6 core (Matisse)

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz Base frequency, up to 4.4 GHz maximum boost frequency, 32 MB L3 cache, 8 core (Matisse)

AMD Ryzen 9 3900 3.1 GHz base clock, up to 4.3 GHz max boost clock, 64 MB L3 cache, 12 cores (Matisse)

I have found this information by following the below link, I would recommend you check that the link is the correct model of your PC, if not, please provide the serial number. I hope this helps!
