Once upon a time I moved to a foreign land with my best friend. We both bought a bicycle and the next day we went into the city to do some errands. We split up to do a couple of tasks and said we'd meet at home. I finished sooner than i expected, so i swang by the bicycle store where he was having some alterations made to see how it was going. As I cycled by, I saw four cops surrounding my friend and a crumpled bicycle on the side of the road. I approached to see what the situation was. He had been cycling on a one way road and been hit by a motorbike. He was fine but his new bike was totalled. Anyway, he needed some ID for the insurance, but he didn't have any on him. The cops asked me if I'd cycle to his home and pick it up. I agreed.

Due to this being a new city, I got a bit lost and ended up buying some bread and milk on the way home (I don't know why I did this). Eventually i arrived to his home, saw a passport on the coffee table, and thought "Oh perfect I don't even have to look for it". Put it in my pocket and cycled back to my friend and the cops. I gave it to the cop, who was grumpy I had taken so long, and he looked at me with a mixture of confusion and disgust. He turned the passport around and it turned out it was my own passport. I have no idea why my passport was in his room, but I'm glad that it was because now I have this story.

So the cops ended up driving my friend back home in the police car and escorting him to his room. He looked around for like 15 minutes with the impatient cop tapping his foot while his bong and smoking paraphernalia sat on the table (legal country fortunately). He then looked in the backpack he had had with him at the scene and realised it was there all along. He pretended it wasn't there and hoped to sneak it out while the cop wasn't looking. He didn't get the opportunity and had to reveal the situation to the cop.

He later received a 1500 euro bill that his insurance wouldn't cover.

P.S. I'm well thanks. Truckin on through the winter.
