Jen wrote Hello!
I went to therapy when I was younger for a little and tried going two years or three ago. I went for three or four sessions. It was good honestly and it did help because you don't realize well I didn't realize personally how much stuff I held or didn't know what was bothering me. After awhile I stopped going because I felt like the counselor was a little judge mental but I heard that's normal to not always connect right away with some therapists. I heard you have to find a good therapist/counselor which of course makes a difference.

To help with depression: not that I have it but everyone goes through down times in their life or anxious times so sometimes if I was more sad or anxious I try to work out which is huge because working out really helps me mentally, as I think better and more happier over time. Also self help books helped me out a lot because there is so many resources out there that can help you on which part you're struggling with. For example I just got this book called "The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment is a book by Eckhart Tolle". It presents itself as a discussion about how people interact with themselves and others. The concept of self reflection and presence in the moment are presented along with simple exercises for the achievement of its principles.

Long story short there's book out there that help with thinking, feeling better and etc.

Lastly I believe what you eat really effects your mood as your gut is correlated to what you eat which effect your mood. So if you eat crappy food or not nutrients - you won't feel good or feel emotionally happy if that makes sense.

Not everyone journey is the same and different approaches help people. I think it is awesome you're trying therapy because worse come to worse you can stop if it's not for you. Good for you working on yourself & I wish the best of luck. Please don't hesitate to message or reach out to me if you need someone to talk to or for whatever reason don't be a stranger lol!

yeah I have been looking into a lot of different self help things over the last few weeks. Such as like apps to kind of set goals, or like things that are simple but help you feel better like drinking water right away after waking up or something like that. I have kind of been looking into podcasts as well for that stuff. I try to focus on gaming cause I know I have a passion for gaming and I heavily enjoy it but even nowadays, it just seems so stale and seems like I have lost my touch with myself. Last year around this time, I called the prevention hotline and I told myself to try and get help before I go down that road again. Thank you for the words and advice (:

No problem! I am glad you're taking care of your mental
Heath before it gets worse! It's funny people always think of working out your body but forget the mind needs it too. My best advice is do the things that you enjoy whether they're little or big that you actually wanna do! For example I stopped reading books or baking because I got so busy with life I started doing those little things that help get your spirit up. Best of luck again my friend and I'm here if you ever need anything or anyone

It's great that you have decided to try therapy as a way to improve yourself and address your depression. Therapy can be a helpful tool for many people, as it provides a safe and supportive space to discuss and work through difficult emotions and experiences.

If you are open and committed to the process, it is possible that therapy can make a positive difference in your life. It's also important to keep in mind that therapy can take time, and it's normal to have ups and downs during the process.

I've been doing therapy for almost three years now, and it has been a life-saver!

i would usually try to avoid trying to take my mental health seriously cause you know, society says men shouldn't show weakness and so on. I also just didn't want anyone else to know I am struggling with things mentally or internally. I always felt that I was being a burden to people and so on. So I never took the time to address it really. But working through with my therapist has been helping a little. I have somewhat found my enjoyment for editing and so on again and it's been somewhat refreshing to experience it again. I just wish I would of realized that I needed therapy before things got so bad haha. Thank you all for the kind words everyone, I appreciate it (:

This is pretty much what I did haha. I just bottled everything up and didn't talk to anyone about anything. It sucks how society has brought on the stigma where men's mental health doesn't matter. That we should all just be a man and get on with everything. But I'm hoping to break away from that and just do what is better for myself and my mentality towards life haha

Yes, i was with NHS standard therapy which was congnitive then straight up councelling. After 3-4 years of nothing, my dad realised that I might genuinely actually need some proper help. Thats when he gave me the number of his therapist (drove, dropped me off picked me up and paid for me) and shit was insane. Private therapists are extremely talented. This bitch pulled out sub conscious stuff I've held in for years without trying. She was incredible. However, she scared me knowing that I'm giving that detail to someone I don't really know and I cut it short after 5 sessions.

Everyone has there choices, if you don't think you need it, that's okay.
